Fostoria American Line 2056 (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

Description:

Fostoria is one of the best known and admired names in American glassware. Probably more brides and homemakers in America have received gifts of and purchased glassware made at the Fostoria factory, in Moundsville, West Virginia, than any other glass company. During its century of operation, the range of style, form, decoration, color, and manufacturing technique was tremendous; only the fine quality remained constant. From 1915 until the factory closed in 1986, one pattern--American No. 2056--has remained a favorite, if not the most popular pattern sought after by glass collectors. This revised and expanded 3rd edition presents the hundreds of individual items in this amazing line, in more than 400 color photographs supplemented by black and white illustrations, with detailed captions, a revised up-to-date value guide, quick reference section, and an index. It is sure to fascinate and inform both the advanced and beginning collector, and no dealer should be without it.

I love this book. I have a previous version that had gotten some water damage but I kept it. The new book gives me some updated information that will be beneficial to have. I tend to wear these books because I like to see the things that I don't have. The pricing may be a little old, I think this version was from 2006. The book is definately worth having if you like American Fostoria.

5.0 out of 5 stars FOSTORIA WITH LESLIE PINA

S.D. · August 17, 2012

I collect Fostoria American and have always used the Sidney Seligson books exclusively as a reference. I kept seeing references made to the Leslie Pina book on Fostoria American and decided to order it and see what all it contained. I am very happy to have this book also. It contains additional information about the different labels used for Fostoria, sketches of the original drawings for the pattern, and includes other informational not available in Seligson's books. It however make reference to his book and the information he provides. The book also contains very vivid pictures of the pieces in the pattern, and the prices are on the same page with the pictures. It is a definite to have for anyone who collects Fostoria American.

She LOVES it! My friend inherited family Fostoria and is always on the lookout for 'new' pieces to add to her collection. While visiting a nearby historical town, one store owner had this book and several lovely pieces of Fostoria. So I purchased this book for her. She was so excited!!Now, when we go 'shopping', my friend carries HER own copy and she's been amazed at all the pieces she now knows exactly what they are for. As our group travel to areas, we all pour over the book so we are beginning to recognize pieces to help in her collecting.THANK YOU for making this book available.
