“An ideal way to introduce children to the magic of music—delightful, charming, wonderfully entertaining, beautifully illustrated.”—Gerard Schwarz, Music Director, the All-Star Orchestra

Discover what a symphony is. Who Beethoven was. What happens when a conductor takes the podium and faces of the orchestra. And when you should and shouldn’t clap.
Here is a unique, interactive introduction to the world of classical music, presenting one of the most famous symphonies ever written, by one the most famous composers who ever lived.

With its 19-button sound panel, you’ll hear the different parts and voices of the music—the beginning of Symphony No. 5, the melody, the harmony, the sounds made by a violin, a viola, a cello, a double bass, and more. And you can even sing along.

Note to parents: The secret to raising a child to love and appreciate classical music isn’t a secret at all. You just need to listen with your child and be a willing explorer. Talk about what you hear. Marvel at the sounds. Try to identify the instruments—and have fun with it!

Great book!! My daughter loves to know about the musical instruments and the orchestra!!! Wonderful to read and play with my 2 year old!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this music book

W.A.T. · September 8, 2025

There is no plastic tab to pull out to start the batteries. Below the battery case is a black switch that if you look carefully says on and off. Once I found that it was off to the orchestra! My 9 year old wants to be a maestro when she grows up and this was so bright and fun. Also it wasn't too loud or too soft@ Great buy.

This book is my 2 year olds biggest obsession. She’s been asking for it multiple times a day for over a month since I bought it. This is brilliant. Best kids book I’ve ever bought. Rather than wanting to watch TV, she only wants to watch videos of symphonies and press the buttons in the book when different instruments come on screen. We’ve probably had well over 100 hours of entertainment from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling for a toddler who loves music and dance

My 2-year-old grandson LOVES this book and entertains himself in his bed in the morning by playing the music and looking at the pages for up to an hour. The first book he wants to read in the evening too. “Bate-HO-ven” is his favorite composer :).

Well worth it!

My four year old grandson adores this book. His early childhood music class teacher used it in class and all of the children adored it. He especially loved the little story that the mice are telling about the music and the concert. He likes to make up his own stories and words for the musical excerpts.

Great introduction to the elements of a symphony

R.L. · April 28, 2024

Thoughtful, educational book for 7-year-olds and older. Themed on Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Kids get to hear different instruments to understand the different instrument sections in an orchestra - so strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. Delightful. Grandkids enjoy reading. Great gift.
