5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Collection Of Writing From Indigenous Peoples

C. · October 3, 2025

A very spiritual and uplifting collection of writings weaved with the wisdom of the indigenous peoples. Each author shares their thoughts via their own style and perspectives. I found it to be both uplifting and educational and the pages to be inviting with colorful pictures and art. It’s truly a very unusual work, in the best kind of way. The hardback book was so well made and it features a cover photo that really draws you in right from the start. It would make a great addition to any library or book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful resource for personal growth

Beyond the absolutely beautiful presentation and imagery, I found Sacred Ceremony for a Sacred Earth to be very inspiring and full of insights. The way it blends Indigenous traditions with practical tips to navigate the modern stress really spoke to me. I like that the book teaches ceremony as a living practice that can reconnect us to one another. It felt practical and it brings a very interesting perspective that I had not bee exposed to much before, so I found it to be especially interesting. If you are looking to expand your horizons and learn about healing and growth from an Indigenous lens, this seems like a fantastic resource.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Visually Stunning, Spiritually Grounding Book—But I Wanted Just a Little More

C.H. · July 27, 2025

Sacred Ceremony for a Sacred Earth is not just a book—it’s a soulful invitation to return home. Home to ourselves, to each other, and to Mother Earth. Compiled by the Aniwa Council of Elders, a gathering of some of the world’s most respected Indigenous Wisdom Keepers, this book is a beautiful offering of ancestral teachings, sacred ceremonies, and personal spiritual insight. With a hardcover edition priced at $39.99 (or a much more reasonable $30.73 if you catch it on sale and add a 20% off coupon), the investment feels a little steep. It is a richly photographed, high-quality book spanning 224 pages of heartfelt teachings and spiritual guidance.🌍 A Tapestry of Ancient Wisdom, Healing, and ConnectionEach chapter felt like a ceremonial fire circle, where an Elder shared not only wisdom, but a piece of their heart. Through stories, portraits, and ceremonial practices, the book brings forward a global quilt of Indigenous perspectives, from the Bolo to North America, the Pacific Islands, and beyond. The stories shared by Indigenous women especially stood out to me—raw, nurturing, and deeply rooted in the sacred relationship between land, body, and spirit. Some of the most profound practices and concepts included:➡️ The use of feathers to move pain and energy➡️ Sacred "pagamento" rituals to honor trees➡️ A Hopi farewell message to aid in grief and closure➡️ Ancestral reconnection practices that invite us to remember where we came from➡️ The Feagaiga—a Samoan sacred covenant with Mother Earth➡️ Ceremonies of conscious conception and honoring the inner childThese aren’t just rituals—they are living prayers, practices that stretch back across generations, holding us as we move through our modern-day spiritual and ecological crises.💫 A Book to Revisit Again and AgainThere’s something deeply soul-soothing about this book. I didn’t want to rush through it. Instead, I took it slow, sipping from each chapter like a warm cup of tea. It reminded me that we are all part of something far greater than ourselves, and that healing is a communal act, rooted in relationship—with Earth, with our ancestors, and with each other. The photography is absolutely stunning—vivid, emotive, and aligned with the energy of each teaching. The images really help you visualize the ceremonial space and the intention behind each tradition. You can feel the respect and reverence woven into every page.🌱 Why It Left Me Wanting More...That said, I did find myself yearning for more practical depth. While the stories and teachings are deeply moving, I had hoped for more detailed step-by-step instructions or guided activities to help integrate these ceremonies into daily life. Sometimes it felt like just when I was about to truly dive into a practice, the chapter shifted to the next Elder’s portrait. The book is more a collection of spiritual snapshots than a comprehensive manual, and that’s okay—it’s clearly meant to inspire reflection and curiosity, not be a workbook. Still, as someone who longs to embody these teachings, a companion guide or downloadable resources would have made it even more powerful.🌟 Final ThoughtsThis is a sacred gift of a book. If you’re drawn to Indigenous wisdom, Earth-based spirituality, ancestral reconnection, or sacred ceremony, you’ll find much to love here. It’s deeply affirming, visually rich, and spiritually nourishing—a book to display proudly, return to often, and share with others on a similar journey.I highly recommend this to healers, seekers, nature lovers, and anyone who feels called to walk more gently and reverently on this Earth. Just know going in—it may stir your soul, but leave your hands still hungry to do more. Perhaps that’s the point: to inspire you to seek, listen, and take the next step on your own sacred path.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of True Wisdom, Beautifully Done

Well put together, beautifully designed, and full of wisdom. This book is a living reminder of the blessings one experiences when attending Aniwa Gathering. Having personally met and learned from many of the wisdom keepers in this book, I can attest that the teachings contained within the book are lived everyday by those who offer the wisdom. They walk the talk and live what they believe. To have their words and wisdom accessible in every moment by way of this book is a gift. I am of "white descent," and so to have access to the guidance and practices offered in these pages is truly a blessing.

When I unboxed this book I was taken with the quality - Hardcover, well bound and opens flat. The book is about the size of printer paper. The photos and drawings have good definition and style.I am from a Christian background and I see much overlap in thought and belief. But universal truths would make that possible, right?Although it is not written as poetry, there is beauty, rhythm and flow in the words and stories that are told."When I woke up this morning, I felt. When I open my eyes, I am thankful to the Creator." Grandmother Clara Soaring Hawk"If a person loves themself....they can flourish within themselves". Nana Amalia Tum XinicoThe flow is also seen in the overall layout. There are a vast array of topics covered in this book. The table of contents hints at the topics, but they go much deeper: Energy, healing, grieving, self-improvement, connection, love, honoring...and much more. There is a lot of explanation to the practices and traditions - answering the why, how and the meaning behind them.As I read, I can tell a lot of thought, prayer and concern went into creating this book.I have enjoyed reading Sacred Ceremonies. I find that I go back and reread section and gain more knowledge that I had missed the first time. This book would make a wonderful gift and I feel (as a former Librarian) that this book should be essential to school and public library collections.

There are underground rivers that occasionally come to the surface. This book brings a river that we sensed was there but had no access to into focus. In this book, the ceremony and ritual that have been feeding this underground river come to the surface, where we can appreciate the connections that continue to be made on behalf of the human community. One day we might look forward to wading into the river itself. Until that day, there is this book.
