About the Author
Russell Hayes is a motoring journalist in print, television, and online whose clients have included the BBC’s original Top Gear, Channel 4’s Driven, The Times, and London Evening Standard. He’s written an eclectic mix of motoring histories on subjects as diverse as the Earls Court Motor Show, the Volkswagen Golf, and Aston Martin V8 cars. Russell is also the author of Motorbooks’ Volkswagen Beetles and Buses and The Big Book of Tiny Cars. He lives in London, England.

Russell Hayes really knows his stuff. This is a well-researched, interesting study of two of Volkswagen's most iconic vehicles. Mr. Hayes writes with an attention to detail that comes through in a subtle, charming and witty way. A great read!

As a teenager I grew up with all my friends having Volkswagens, those cute little beetle shaped cars, they were a real flagship of the hippy years - especially the combi vans as we called them in Australia.This book is a wonderful dip into history and back in time - although I drive a Volkswagen now I still hanker to see the old beetles at car shows and in collection around the country - there is just something rebellious about them still.

This is an illustrated history to celebrate the 75th and 70th anniversaries of the Volkswagen Beetles and Buses.I am a huge fan of Volkswagen Beetles and it is my dream to one day own one. When I saw this book on Netgalley I couldn’t resist requesting it. The history of the Volkswagen’s two iconic vehicles was fascinating, especially in their creation. I never realized that Hitler played a part in the creation and production of the original Volkswagen Beetles, then called the KdF-Wagen.I found the history of this brand and vehicles fascinating, especially since this book included vintage photographs, magazines, prototypes, and ads. It does get very technical about the differences between the different years and models though. I understood very little of those parts but I got the general idea of what changes were being made.Overall, this was a wonderful illustrated history book. If you are a Volkswagen fan I highly recommend checking this book out.*ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review.*

As an avid collector of Russell Hayes tomes, this is another engaging read. Full of information I didn't know. Detailed but not an exhausting insight into the two most iconic models of the marque.
