This is by far the best book on hand building I have ever seen or owned. I highly recommend it to every potter whether you hand build or throw on the wheel. Even wheel throwers will gain tips and knowledgeable in site. The author, Sunshine Cobb, is a young, gifted potter, who will go down in the history of the clay world as one of the best in the business. Her interviews with other potters is a nice touch. Her step by step guide is easy to follow and understand. The bonus...there are templates! Buy this book, you will not regret it. A very small price to pay for all that is jam packed in this publication.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with a lot of projects
I've always like the work of Sunshine Cobb and this book did not disappoint. It has projects in it that are easy to follow and lots of other good suggestions, like keeping dust down in the studio and how to make magic water. Good for beginners as well as people who have been doing pottery for awhile.
4.0 out of 5 stars Provide instruction and inspiration
I enjoy the freedom hand building pottery provides and this book offers good instruction for all levels, except for the advanced, and it provides a inspiration and good jumping off points.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative book
I really enjoy this book and reach for it often.I was very excited to try the boxes, and the templates for hand building were perfect. The book is simple to follow with clear and concise instructions.I highly recommend this book for beginners and more advanced potters.
3.0 out of 5 stars Overestimated
I expected more from this book. If you are new to clay or handbuilding, then this book is worth buying. Nice illustrations, simple projects, interviews with acclaimed ceramic artists.I am just one year in clay and for me this book was much on the elementary side. I also expected some projects from other artists or at least valuable tips, but there are just abstract interviews on choosing career and path in ceramics.
