The pictures come with the phenomenal details, not just the dinosaur one but all three books. Definitely worth the money!

These anthologies are amazing! I love the style of them. My children love to sit and look through these books. They have spent hours looking through them!

Beautiful, large, well bound books. Well worth the money-actuall I would say they’re inexpensive for the great quality of these books. My Grands love them, 14 & 12 year old boys and 3 year old girl

I bought these for my granddaughter who loves to read. She had asked for this set of books in particular. When she opened this gift on Christmas day, she did not want to open any more gifts. She insisted taking a glance at this set of books before moving on to her other gifts. She is 7 years old. Her mother then started looking at the set. They are heavy, heavy books that have beautifully illustrated pictures throughout. The pages are nice and thick, so they will not tear easily. My granddaughter is interested in all three subjects that at in the set, Animals, the Universe and Dinosaurs. I will be purchasing other books from the same maker on other subjects, as they make everything inside the book so interesting.I am so happy with the quality of these books.

I collect these books, so I was glad to see these go on sale and snatched them up. These books are great for kids to thumb through or to read aloud. You can also use the table of contents for specific stuff. But these are so beautiful and we love collecting the anthology books from DK.

This is a gorgeous boxed set of high-quality books. The books have gilded elements on the spine and covers, and each one has a ribbon bookmark. The bindings are great quality, and the pages are nice and thick. The box itself is also thick and durable, and this makes a very nice set to give to someone.I'm not sure how to classify these books. They're not thorough or well-indexed enough to be encyclopedias, and they're not field guides, either. The publisher describes these as "anthologies," and even though that implies a collection of short fictional works, I suppose that word can also apply to nonfiction books like this with short sections of information and photographs about miscellaneous selected subjects.My one warning is that since this is for kids, parents need to be aware that the set is EXTREMELY heavy, and it could cause injury if a child was trying to pull a single book off the shelf and pulled the whole set down on top of themselves. This will also be too heavy for many kids to lift and carry. I would recommend shelving this low to the floor.Here are my reviews of the individual books:AN ANTHOLOGY OF INTRIGUING ANIMALSThis book introduces kids to a variety of different animals through vivid photographs, drawings, and about two paragraphs of text about each animal. This will appeal to animal enthusiasts of different ages, with older kids reading all of the text to themselves and younger ones listening to a read-aloud or just looking at the pictures. There are details related to predatory animals that could scare very young, sensitive kids, but the general concepts are simple enough for little ones to understand.I would have liked this better if the animals had been organized alphabetically or by type; it appears that they were just roughly organized from largest to smallest. Also, I thought it was odd that the author spent so much time talking about the role of different animals in different cultural and religious belief systems. Since there are only two paragraphs about each animal, I didn't think that some of these details should have made the cut. If someone wants to know about animals in mythology around the world, they can read a mythology book.DINOSAURS AND OTHER PREHISTORIC LIFEInstead of just focusing on dinosaurs, this book also includes other prehistoric creatures that people are less familiar with. The book shares photographs of actual fossils along with illustrations and two paragraphs of text about each creature. This will appeal to kids who love dinosaurs, and is appropriate for a broad age range. However, I wish that the author had included more information about the science of paleontology and answered more "Why?" and "How?" questions that the material raises. If someone is looking for in-depth information and answers to lots of questions, they'll be best pursuing a different resource, while this is a good basic introduction and photograph collection.THE MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSEThis book shares bold, beautiful pictures from outer space along with about two paragraphs of information on each page. The author covers a wide variety of celestial bodies, including the moons of different planets, and the book is perfect for curious kids. This book shares just enough information to answer basic questions without getting too technical and overwhelming, and the pictures are breathtaking and awe-inspiring. This book will also appeal to many adults as a coffee table book.

A bit pricey and I would say the text is quite short to go along with the pictures. These are *not* encyclopedia style books. But my kid enjoys looking more at the pictures:-).
