If you are looking for a workbook to help with comprehension that doesn't include just mindless stories this is it. The stories are short and good and I use it for my daughter's reading time each afternoon that is included in her homework. This way I can make certain that she is truly reading something because of the three or four questions after the story. It's a great book for practice...I like that it includes some non fiction passages as well as fiction. I like that she may be learning something unintended.

Helped my son extremely in developing better reading habits and questions at the end of each passage ensure understanding of passage. Questions are simple and straight to the point. Reading topics are also interesting. Will buy more book for summer.

This was worth every minute of the day, sitting down with my eight year old grand and reading these books, he did not have a reading issue, but a comprehension problem after reading these books he was able to answer all questions correctly and also verbally explain the story..

I bought these to improve and build the confidence of my 3rd grader. I also bought the 3rd grade version, but my daughter is struggling to understand what she reads even though she is excelling at actually reading, sort of a strange thing going on. She gets thinking about individual words so much she doesn't see the full story. These are helping very much. The questions are well put together and thought provoking.

Wonderful! So simple- story on the left, questions on the right. Many questions require thought, not just reading back for the answer word for word.Short passages, only 4 questions, and a nice picture to color with each one!
