5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable Novel

W.E.J. · October 25, 2015

What I see in an author like Wayne Stinnett is that he is a story teller. I would think to hear him tell a story in person would be very similar to the way he writes the story. And as a story teller he needs to bring his audience to his world, keep them there and provide a rich textured "reality" for his characters to tell their story. He does that and does it very well. Yes, there are a few blips, in particular the ending (seemed to be too short for the big build-up that preceded it), but this is new ground here and I do believe that he is still finding his telling rhythm.I have read all of the Jesse McDermitt series to date and thoroughly enjoyed them all, as I did this novel. I had seven other books in front of this novel to read, and yet, once I started reading "Merciless Charity", it became my first read. Now I have got to catch up with the other books! But to me, that is a excellent indication of the quality of the read. We, and not just Americans, live in a pretty scary place. There are many American haters in the world and to see one group reap the consequences of their actions seems right to me. Mr. Stinnett does not use a broad brush to condemn or make his story a racist statement, but rather deals with the reality of our world. There are bad men and women in our world today that as individuals mean the USA and other countries harm. And there are other men and women working at keeping them from harming anyone. Not being a women, I am not sure exactly how well Mr. Stinnett hit the mark. In my opinion however, he did very well. And since, according to the intro to his book, his wife played a very important part. I do not think that he would be able to get away with not being on the mark! :-) And as far as I can tell his female perspective, not quite as smooth as Jesse McDermitt, was pretty realistic and believable. Charity is no "china doll"!So, I eagerly wait for his next book in this series and his next in the Jesse McDermitt series. I would rate this book about 4.7 but since Bolo system of rating does not allow partial stars, I have not problem giving it 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding start to a new series

WOW!! The first book of Wayne Stinnett's new Caribbean Thriller series hits the ground running and never slowsdown. Well worth the wait. After a wonderful Charity Styles back story set up for anyone who has not read the Jesse McDermitt series, thestory picks up with Charity starting out on her first covert assignment. We learn a few new things about her past andwhat drives her during her sail into harms way. Don't get me wrong, this is a fast paced adventure story. The kind ofwriting we've come expect from Wayne. For those who have read his other series, Wayne has put in a couple ofteasers in the plot line of this story.I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great action adventure. The only thing wrong is that it ends ...... I downloaded it to my Kindle mid afternoon Saturday and realized @ 7pmthat I had finished reading it. I envy anyone who is just now meeting Wayne with this book, they will have the wholeJesse McDermitt series to carry them through to his next Jesse McDermitt or Charity Styles publication date.

5.0 out of 5 stars SPUNKY NEW CHARACTER, GOOD STORY

B. · June 12, 2016

In MERCILESS CHARITY author Wayne Stinnett introduces us to Miss Charity Stiles. A young beauty who's as dangerous as she is lovely. Though Charity carries a lot of emotional baggage around. The result if her capture & brutalization at the hands of Afghani Jihadis.Charity is technically a part of the CCC, operated by Duece McAllister & part-time transporter Jesse McDermitt. She's also been known to be sent off on 'rogue' missions by Director Stillwell. And this is her first of those adventures. While not as good as the Jesse McDermitt 'FALLEN . . .' Series, it does have potential. Just needs a few more characters. Some fleshing out of those characters to expand Charity's world a bit. Once that's accomplished, author Stinnett should have yet another success on his hands.I gave this book a 5-star rating because, frankly, I could see the difficulty Stinnett had getting inside a female's head. As well as incorporating her & her mission into the world of Jesse, Duece, & the CCC. So, an additional star if only for effort alone.I look forward to seeing more of Charity Stiles in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good

5.0 out of 5 stars Will not disappoint

I have read all the Jesse McDermitt books in the series and enjoyed every single one. Wayne's stories usually take place in the Florida Keys or Caribbean and are educational as well as exciting. Merciless Charity is a spin-off of the series and follows Charity, the pilot of Jesse's team helicopter, on a clandestine mission to Mexico to locate a group of terrorists who are training and plan to infiltrate into the US within the next week. Most of her trip is on the water in an old sailboat that had been upgraded with many modern conveniences that will allow the boat to sail itself. En route, Charity encounters a family of Cuban refugees and compromises the mission to save them. She also develops a love interest on one of her stops that might continue in the next book. This story, like the authors' others, are exciting and captivating. Charity is a professional sniper, trained in martial arts, and a skilled "sailor" since her youth. The clock is ticking and Charity can't afford to miss her timeline to stop the terrorists - any delays could compromise the mission. Readers will see her in action and see why she is "merciless."Good job, in taking on the role of a female protagonist in your spin-off, Wayne. I'm looking forward to continuing this series.

It was nice to meet the characters in Wayne Stinnett,s books. The more I read his books the more amazed I become as how each persons character is developed and the strength of their friendships. I would recommend anyone wanting to read a good book to read this authors books.

ONE SUPER FEMALE CHARGED WITH CLANDESTINE JOBS ONLY THE MOST HIGHLY TRAINED COULD ATTEMPT. AND SHE DOES. YOU'LL LOVE IT.

R. · January 3, 2018

Wow! Now here is a chic for all seasons. From an unbelievable background as a former Olympian, a helicopter pilot, grav maga expert - plus other martial arts, a female killing machine is born, and into the employ of the US Gov't. The book is written in such a way as to give you an extremely detailed and interesting background for Charity Styles our femme fatale, and really sets the tone for future series books. A very well done epic story indeed. Nice, too, that this is a completely stand alone novel, but finishes in such a way that you're really tempted to keep going with the series. A genuinely good book of a genre many thoroughly enjoy - so go ahead, you have absolutely nothing to lose.
