I used this book for my 3-5th graders at our co-op for my Birding for Young Naturalists class and the kids loved looking through it and reading interesting facts. It was a good reference book. Not much text, but there are pages about feathers, owls, or birds of prey that went into more depth which reinforced what we learned that day.

Interesting engaging and beautifully Illustrated this has been amazing for our 8 to 10 year olds. I would imagine this would be just as usable for younger children as well depending on their interest on the topic and parents reading to them.

The media could not be loaded. These DK Anthology books are amazing. My kids (3&6) love to look through and listen to me read them. They are beautiful to put on display as well. We have all of the books in this series.

We started birding this year, just casually listening and spotting birds in the neighborhood—but An Anthology of Exquisite Birds took it to a whole new level. I read it with my daughter every night before bed. We’d pick a new bird, read the entry, then look it up on YouTube to see and hear it in real life. Incredible fun, and such a lovely way to wind down the day while learning something new together. It’s become a favorite part of our routine!

These books are wonderful. Colorful, engaging, and informative. My 7 year old finds them fun and actively wants to just sit and read them.

I’ve gotten my nature-loving 9-year-old almost every single book in this DK anthology series (oddly, she doesn’t like dinosaurs) and as we have pet birds at home and love flying creatures in general, this was a no-brainer. She’s thrilled she got it the day it arrived and I’ve only had the brief chance to look at it but as someone fairly well-up on exotic birds in general and parrots in specific the information I saw is accurate and informative (the pages devoted to the African Grey parrot mention Dr. Irene Pepperberg and Alex, for example). I’m also a teacher so my standards for children’s books are high and as usual DK is excellent, but the illustrations in here really do elevate the book tremendously. If you have a middle elementary student who loves the natural world, or even if you’re just a bird-nerd adult who wants a moderately-priced coffee-table book, give this a shot.

I purchased this for my granddaughter who is and she loved it.
Lovely book but cover looks old
The book itself is lovely. Great assortment of birds with wonderfully colorful pictures. Unfortunately the cover of the book looked worn and aged. Had bought for Christmas so didn't have time to return it.
Lovely books for the whole family
These books are so beautiful. The narrative is clear and easy for children to attempt but the pictures are what make it - absolutely stunning.
