5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved! My favorite so far by this author!
I loved this book! While reading it gave me all the feels, the heart dropping angst, the fluttering of butterflies in my stomach, the giddy feeling with a big, dopey smile going across my face. Everything I need and require to make a romance a 5 star read for me!I'm going to be honest here. I went in with a bit of trepidation when I picked this book up, because although I liked Every Summer After. Fortune's second book, Meet Me at The Lake, was just okay for me, so I didn't really know where this one was going to fall. I can easily say this one is my favorite by Fortune yet! It was perfect. Everything I wanted and then some!I fell in love with the characters. I loved the female protagonist, Lucy, her love for flowers, running her own flower shop, and her dream of one day having her own cut flower farm. If I hadn't been so stressed out the last two weeks with my lack of success of my very own Floret Farm flower seeds that I direct sowed in my garden, I'd probably love the fact of how much Erin and her Floret Flower Farm was mentioned in this book. But that is an entire different matter. 😅Then we get Felix. He was amazing. He was everything you'd want the male main character to be and more. I loved how this book started out. My jaw literally hit the floor, and then with the back and forth timeline of then and now really build this story up for me.And lastly, the setting. Oh my gosh. The setting. 😍 I had never even heard of Prince Edward Island (I had to look it up on the map), but Fortune's writing and the descriptions of this place makes me want to visit right away. It had me craving oysters and wanting that laid back, small town ocean vibe asap! This book would obviously be perfect by the water while you are enjoying your own vacation, but with the way Fortune writes about PEI, the food and drinks, etc, you could easily escape to this place straight on your couch at home. And really that's just what we all are looking for when we pick up a book, right?I am really shocked the two romance books that released this spring and that I haven't expected much out of are so far some of my favorite reads this year, and for me that is a lesson to never write off an author or think you they can't give you something that you will absolutely love!
4.0 out of 5 stars A great best friend's brother trope!
This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune4 starsSpice: 🔥🔥 /5The sexual tension and back and forth between Felix and Lucy kept me turning the pages. I am a glutton for punishment because I am all for the angst. This Summer Will be Different is a best friend’s brother trope. It delivers on all the aspects of a best friend’s brother trope but even better. The chemistry these two shared was burning off the pages.Speaking of burning, I feel like this was Carley Fortune’s spiciest book I have read thus far. Which I was most definitely not mad about. I LOVED FELIX so much. He was so witty and swoon-worthy. Handsome and hard working. He wasn’t afraid to use his words. I mean, what more we could ask for?Lucy was a little wishy washy. I liked her enough, but sometimes, I felt like Lucy was in love with Bridget. I know they were best friends but some of the statements felt like it could be more than friendship – but I think she was just really trying to get the point across how she felt she had to hide her feelings for Felix because she did not want to hurt Bridget. There is a backstory about why Bridget would be so against her best friend and brother, but I don’t want to give too much away.Of course, Carley Fortune did a fabulous job at creating her setting as one of the characters. It’s her ‘thing’ now. I do want to visit all the places she writes about. I am a fan of her writing – it has depth to it, great dialogue, and plots with meat to the bones (for the most part).#avidreaderbookblog #readingislife #bookblogger #bookbloggers #bookbloggersofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #books #romance #romancebookstagram #romancebookblogger #romancebookstagrammer #bestfriendsbrother #bestfriendsbrotherromance #carleyfortune #carleyfortunebooks #carleyfortunebook #carleyfortuneauthor

Carley has a way of writing such captivating summer stories that steal your heart and leave you wanting more. This Summer Will Be Different grabbed my attention from the start and I could not stop thinking about it anytime I put the book down. The dreamy coastal setting of Prince Edward Island where the book took place most of the time had me wanting to pack my bags and head to the island! The journey of the two main characters, Lucy and Felix and the five years that led up to their relationship was such a fun story. The book went back and forth from present time to the past when Lucy and Felix had just met. I was obsessed with the instant spark and fire that shot between Lucy and Felix and loved that it continued on from day one.The story heavily involved Lucy’s friendship with Felix’s sister, Bridget. Their friendship was truly something else and had me in tears many times as their friendship progressed over the years. I enjoyed reading about their support of one another and seeing how it never faded and only strengthened over the years. The connections and the character developments in the book are some of my favorites that I have read and I absolutely loved the strength and depth that was witnessed on each page. This Summer Will Be Different by @carleyfortune⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️A forbidden romance + best friend’s brother + PEI summer magic = a solid beach book win!I didn’t fall as hard for this one as I did for Every Summer After or One Golden Summer, but I still really enjoyed it. It’s heartfelt, romantic, and quietly empowering.✨ Add it to your summer stack if you’re into:• Forbidden romance• Best friend’s brother trope• Forced proximity• Coastal Canadian vibes• Personal growth stories with heart
Breathtakingly beautiful, a summer dream where romance blossoms on every page.
Five years ago, Lucy had never gone to Prince Edward Island before, but after becoming fast best friends with Bridget, a native, while living in Toronto, she plans to vacation there with her for a short time to meet her family and see everything the glorious island has to offer. Bridget’s flight gets delayed, and so Lucy is tasked with entertaining herself until she’s joined by her best friend. What Lucy doesn’t anticipate is Felix, the man she meets at a Shack on the island, making eyes at her behind the counter. Their connection is electric and instant, and after a back-and-forth flirting match, they’re back at his beach house, in his sheets. But when she discovers Felix is Wolf, Bridget’s brother—aptly nicknamed just as Lucy was Bee to Bridget—the stark realisation hits that they might have crossed an unerasable line.Every year, Lucy tries to fight it, the pull toward Felix. Yet, it’s more apparent than ever that every time they are in one another’s orbit, it’s a dangerous mission to keep from entwining their limbs together. Lucy doesn’t want Bridget to feel as if history is repeating itself, her last best friend having vanished from her life after dating her brother, and so their connection becomes a buried secret, only awakened by summer, no matter how much more the other needs. But this year is different: Bridget is getting married, and yet flower-shop-owner Lucy is back on Prince Edward Island at her request, mere days before the wedding, under unclear circumstances. What isn’t Bridget telling Lucy? Felix wasn’t supposed to be there, complicating things further for Lucy, but now he looks at her with a difference that makes Lucy question if their illicit attraction is deeper than a fleeting moment. Heart on the line in what has become her favourite place on Earth, Lucy is faced with decisions she hadn’t expected to make, and when the truth is revealed, it’s going to take everything to keep her feet on solid ground.Overall, This Summer Will Be Different was breathtakingly beautiful, a summer dream where romance blossoms on every page. Carley has this uniquely mystical way of writing love stories about characters that truly feel like they were made for one another, each chapter magnetic enough to keep me turning pages fast. I loved the flashbacks, rolling back summers and autumn moments with these characters that became a comfort. There was so much depth and meaning in Lucy’s story, and grief plays a huge part in the decisions she makes, true to the way loss changes a person. Felix might be my new favourite leading man from Carley, and I was utterly swept up by the bond he shared with Lucy. The Clark family were wholesome to the core, and I adored Bridget and all her eccentric ways, but especially the way she and Lucy loved each other. Their friendship was something to be truly treasured. And like I had predicted, this book itself is also another one to treasure from Carley. Lucy and Felix are my new favourite couple from her (sorry, Percy and Sam!) miles ahead with this effervescently intimate story that has left a distinctly golden imprint on my heart. Five everlasting stars.
