About the Author
Frank B. Cross is the Herbert D. Kelleher Centennial Professor of Business Law at The University of Texas at Austin Law School, where his research centers on judicial decision-making, the economics of law and litigation and traditional policy and doctrinal issues in administrative law. He has written several books as well as pieces for the Yale Law Journal, Columbia Law Review, University of Chicago Law Review, New York University Law Review, Texas Law Review, Virginia Law Review, Cornell Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, Northwestern Law Review and UCLA Law Review. A former president of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, Professor Cross received his B.A. from the University of Kansas and J.D. from Harvard Law School.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST Textbook I have gotten yet! Packed with loads of information in an easy to ready and understand format.
I bought this book for my Los Angeles City College Business Law 1 and Business Law 2 classes over Summer 2013. The teacher had us buy the online 2-Semester course access for this book which is $150 on CengageBrain. That package includes online access to this book for 365 days from activation of course key, course work and assignments/tests sent out by my teacher for us to do instead of handouts and such. The teachers did not require anyone to have the real book as all of the work is done online at home and thats where our reading was done. It was all lecture in class. BUT... I felt that having THIS hard cover book would make a difference in my education. My school does not offer this book, but instead a special edition that's made for Pasadena City College, and it only has half the information that is in the full version (the book here on Bolo). And the best part is... Even after buying this book for 248 on Bolo (pre-tax) I still had to buy the online Course access key for 150 which had the ebook and all that stuff just so I could participate in class. BUT this review is not for that product, its for the actual hard cover book.. which I LOVE! My grade would not be anywhere close to what it is now (an A) if I did not have this book. I personally just cannot learn as well from reading on a screen versus actual paper. In addition, the book is so well written, has an awesome flow to it that takes you from one subject of law to the next, how they tie in together and other sections of law, etc. Overall AWESOME Book.If your a student and thinking about buying this book in addition to the online course key's that your instructors are forcing you to use.. I highly recommend it. Not only do you get to have a hard copy of it, you get to KEEP it after that 365 day lifespan for the online ebook. I have a bookcase that is dedicated to my school books, and now a whole shelf just for the start of my law library.

Love how the content is laid out with loads of examples. The only law book I’ve read since it was required for my class, but I was instantly hooked. Even made me consider law school until I saw the prices 😂

I rented this book because it is required by the university as a textbook. But now I think I will buy my own copy. I think it's a must have book for any person who wants to avoid being sued.It's very informative and EASY to read and understand. It's written for the common man, not a lawyer.This book will save me a lot of lawyer and consultation fees. It will also probably save me from being a victim of fraud.It's very enlightening.A law abiding citizen :)

This book has a great lay out and very short sections. This worked well for me as my attention span is equally short... especially when it comes to reading most college text books. The book arrived late (as the first 'seller' was not a real seller at all) and I started the quarter 10 chapters behind! But the book and my instructor's rapid-fire respond/teaching style was a dynamite combination for me. It all worked so well. I thoroughly enjoyed researching the case studies at the end of the chapters. In preparation or my final, I blasted through the thing and reviewed most all of the legal terms in bold, cover to cover; and, picked up on the underlying current and relationships between tort law, contracts, duty of care, fiduciary responsibility, breaches, negligence, and fraud, etc. And I aced the final!I will keep this book in my library for years to come. It's a great reference book. You don't have to be a business or law student to use and appreciate it.

I rented this book for my business law 1 and 2 class and although the price was great and it came on time--I received what looks like a chewed up book. (maybe an animal possibly a child) I was informed when I called Bolo that the book was brand new when it was sent out and that they would note the account for when they charge me for the damages. I would like to understand how receiving a damaged book calls for me being charged for those damages...I made that call specifically so such an incident would not occur. Needless to say I think I will need to be renting/purchasing my "brand new" books else where from now on.

Business Law is as thorough as I would expect any high level textbook to be. All of the explanations are simple and straight forward, along with dozens and dozens of cases to illustrate them. Plus, many legal codes referenced are given in full in the glossary, saving you from having to look them up online. Couldn't really ask for more.

There's sooo many things about this book that makes it outstanding! You'd learn so much from it that you can save yourself money by avoiding lawsuits and hiring lawyers for simple questions. The only thing that annoys me?...when the seller from Bolo did not say or informed me that the book I'm getting was made for the professor's only...teacher's edition. No wonder the seller put stickers outside the book to cover the actual ISBN#, he covered it with a sticker reflecting the student edition book's ISBN#! Failed because my school bookstore did not want to purchase this book due to the fake student edition ISBN#.
