She also serves on the editorial board of several critical care journals, has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and is a successor co-author of two Elsevier books on nursing diagnosis. Dr. Makic is well known for her passion for improving patient outcomes and nursing practice through evidence-based practice.
Lauren T. Morata is a hand-picked successor to the retiring Sole author team and served as Associate Editor on the 8th edition. Dr. Morata is an experienced critical care and trauma nurse with a passion for evidence-based practice and research. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Clinical Quality at Lakeland Regional Health. Dr. Morata graduated with her BS from the University of Central Florida. She received her MSN as Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Cincinnati and a DNP from the University of Central Florida. She is involved in professional organizations both locally and nationally, including the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She has been honored with awards both locally and nationally, most recently AACN’s Circle of Excellence.
