My daughter was not old enough for Public School Kindergarten due to the date of her birth and their guidelines. We purchased this book in the volume for first graders along with the Brain Quest Book. We had done some phonics with her prior to that purchase. She really likes the books, so we ordered the one for second graders. She likes it also. We were delighted with the colorful pictures and the different types of activities that the book has to offer to keep her interested. She is five years and 7 months old and she is reading on a second grade level, writing sentences, doing addition and subtraction, learning shapes doing antonyms and synonyms. We highly recommend these books with a prior course of phonetics.

I am a mean mommy, I make my kids do homework even in the summertime. Every day. I know, so mean. Well, these books are so great and colorful that homework is rather fun. They just pick a page and have to do the front and back and they are done. It's so great to have such a great book that covers a lot of subject matter and keeps it fun! The artwork is great and what my kids retain during the summertime is priceless!
