We did quite a bit of searching when looking for a Bible for our 5 year old daughter. This was one of the best that we could find with just a cursory glance through the pages, and reading it to our children has borne out that it is a great version of the Bible for children.The stories are told in the order they appear in the Bible and include citations to let you know what biblical story they retell. The stories are rather faithful to the Bible, without making judgments or interpreting the stories in ways that might be questionable. There are footnotes that help to explain some of the terms that might not be familiar to young readers (or even older readers who haven't done a lot of reading of their own Bibles). There is an illustration on every page, and these are neither overly realistic nor overly cartoonish; they are drawn well enough to show children the story, but not so realistic that they create a definitive picture of what characters or scenes would have looked like (i.e. they still leave some imagining to the child).There is a parent section in the back that includes 20 different "lessons" that parents may use with their children. As the book, itself, states, "These Parent Pages are intended to help you, the best role models for your children, to be equipped and motivated to share your faith through reading the Bible and discussing its stories in a friendly and informal way." These lessons reference the biblical stories and then give some ideas about how you might discuss them and put action to the words (i.e. Parent Page 8, titled Facing the Fears of Life, references Luke 8 and Jesus being at sea with the apostles during a storm. It suggests you use this biblical story when talking to children about fears like thunder, bullying, rejection).The stories are kept in order, but broken up into logical chunks so that you can choose to cover all of a particular story, or break it up to aid a child's understanding. For example, the plagues in Egypt are told in two stories that could be read separately or combined into one night's reading (Exodus 5-11 are in a 6 page chapter titled "Let the People Go," Exodus 11-12 are in a 4 page chapter titled "The Tenth Plague."). The "Look Inside" feature here on Bolo gives a rather generous preview of the book, including this section, so that you can get a real feel for how the biblical stories are illustrated and retold.

Great children's Bible!I teach the smaller kids Sunday School class and have a 4yo. Trying to find a Bible that both works for their age group and also includes some of the lesser known details of the stories and how it applies to our lives has been a challenge!We bought this one for our daughter to take back and forth to church so she can learn to get in the habit of bringing it and following along with me as I teach the lesson.All in all, this is a great buy for a younger kid who isn't ready for a full-fledged verse by verse Bible.

This is the most accurate children's Bible I've found. I've read through almost 10 of them (as a nanny). I stumbled across this one at a Scholastic Book warehouse sale and brought it out years later for our daughter. I was amazed at how it stays true to the Bible. Many bibles will make up things like, "Jesus thought..." or switch things around to make them "child friendly" but this one does not. It would also be interesting for elementary-aged kids, with it's little explanation notes it has. For each story there are 1-3 little notes that explains why people lived in tents, or what a certain holiday was. Stories are long enough to get the story right, but not so long that our tired daughter has a fit. We have read through this 3 times since she was born--she's almost 18 months now. I also like that it doesn't have some overall theme or message the author is forcing on the story--nor does it have annoying questions. It does have "Parent pages" at the back if you are interested.

We find this kids Bible much easier for the kids to read rather than a regular Bible. Some stories aren't included but it's still good for the age range it belongs to. I love the pictures and extra details where they explain Certain words, characters, or places.

I've found this to be a great Bible for my 7 year old. It has just enough detail in the stories to not be over-simplified like the ones meant for 4-year-olds. Also not overly complex, so it's a great balance. And all of the images are great too! Very happy with this and a great bargain

The kids loved them and they have good clear pictures of lots of interesting information, but the binding is kind of blah and I have to fix one of them because the cover came off
Nicely written, not too long stories.
One of the better children Bibles in our opinion. Very nicely written and not too long stories. We read it to our 3 year old and she just loves it (she is being brought up bilingual, me doing the German, my wife the English).

Amazing artwork
Flows well! A great visual took to go along with Bible studies. Would like to see a bit about the Second Coming and Heaven but it's nice to see the cute depictions of Eden. The colors are beautiful.
Great for the whole family!
I love this bible. The stories are simple enough for kids, but detailed as well, and interesting for a parent to read. We read this one together all the time.
