For this on a flash sale for my 7 year old that loves drawing and Pokemon. It was a great gift that kept him busy for a while, but after he got through all the photos he was done with it.

I got this for my nephew for Christmas and he loved it. He has drawn several Pokemon for me and I love that he is making his own art. He's a bit obsesses with Pokemon so I hope they come out with some more books that include different Pokemon. I think it's great for kids to learn how to draw instead of always getting coloring books. It helps focus and calm him because he really gets into it. Great book.

I bought this for my 5 1/2 year old son who's a huge pokemon fan and wanted to learn to draw his favorite pokemon. The book has a good variety of characters, but I think I would definitely recommend it for older children. It is too difficult for my son to draw them on his own using this book- the drawings aren't broken down into enough steps for a young child. I've bought other "how to draw" books before that are more geared toward younger kids and he was able to use those on his own. However, I would still probably purchase this book again because it was inexpensive and I can use it to "help" him draw the pokemon.Edited 6/9/15- after using this book with my son for a week or two, I noticed that even though he can't draw the pokemon on his own, he can use it to trace the outline of the pokemon shapes so he can color them in, and he loves it. I would have increased my rating to 4 stars, but I'm sticking with 3 stars because the book doesn't show the finished pokemon in color, so we have to look up what colors they are (my son knows most of them, but we have the "essential handbook" to look up any he's uncertain of).

I bought this for my daughter who loves pokemon and has a bit of a hand coordination problem which she receives occupational therapy for. She can type faster than most humans I know, but drawing is a problem and so is lining up columns like rows of numbers. This book is perfect for her. It offers simply step-by-step instructions on how to create each character and involves nothing but simple line drawings, but forces concentration and improves eye-hand coordination.Of course, the other benifit of this book is that you can use it to draw pokemon characters to make craft items for a child you love or make a custom made greeting card. This book isn't expensive and worth every penny. If you have a pokemon fan in your mist, this is a nice book that will encourage creativity and time away from the Nintendo!
