This is a board book because the firefly blow with real lights. The kids love that. The text, texture, color , material is very good.

In my many years of teaching small children I cannot remember giving an Eric Carle book any fewer than 5 stars. I really can’t give the The Very Lonely Firefly more stars, but I will tell you that the book is Magical! Just read to the end and get a thrill. What a surprise!

Like many Eric Carle books, this one has a very repetitive formula in the words written and how it reads, but young kids like that. Most of the art didn't stand out to me, but my 2 year old was engaged. She LOVES the lights at the end of the book. She did seem a little bothered by the ones that don't have lights, but it was still a success. She does not want her older brother to touch her book lol

My son loves this book! I had this book many years ago for my daughter and she loved it to the point of it falling apart. I knew my son needed to have the same experience so we ordered it for his first Easter. The story is sweet and the lights on the last page really captivate my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Poignant story for young children experiencing school shut down and no friends to play with.
I have used Eric Carle books with young children for many years. The graphics and language are wonderful.One day I watched two dog friends playing on either side of the fence, and pushing toys under the fence to share.The dogs were having a wonderful time playing and running, with only a chain link fence separating them.In the neighboring yards preschool and school age children had no one to play with or share toys.As adults we need to consider how the coronavirus has affected us and work towards finding a solution to prevent this from ever happening again. International politicians need to research the cause and effect, to ensure we are ONE World. Eric Carle has a magic touch when writing books for children . Let us enjoy them together

Lovely children's book
I gave this book to my toddler niece after we saw this story as part of The Hungry Caterpillar stage show. Lovely multilayered story. My niece loves the lights at the end.

In my many years of teaching small children I cannot remember giving an Eric Carle book any fewer than 5 stars. I really can’t give the The Very Lonely Firefly more stars, but I will tell you that the book is Magical! Just read to the end and get a thrill. What a surprise!
