5.0 out of 5 stars So real

Love these poems. So real and unabashedly human. Looked up Sharon Olds after hearing one of her poems in the movie Into The Wild. This book is wonderful. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read but brace yourself

Olds is a vivid writer and some don’t like her because she is so bold. However. I really enjoy that about her and recommend this read.

Poweful, no-holds-barred poetry. This is not your tra-la-la walk in the woods. It's challenging, moving, and bears reading slowly to absorb the nuances.

5.0 out of 5 stars An old favorite...

k. · November 27, 2015

One of my favorite books of poetry... skillful, raw, and real.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful poems, formatting issues on Kindle

M. · October 20, 2013

A genius collection of poetry, but not easy reading on the Kindle. Certain lines/sections are repeated in error within some of the poems. Where the text is correct, the publisher has not formatted it to be read at all font sizes. I had to shrink to the smallest available size to see every word of every line of every poem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the read

Great literature, something to open your mind and views on how reality is percieved.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, great condition

love the book, came in great condition and shipped quickly. Also as promised, was signed by Sharon Olds (even if it wasn't inscribed to me) ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharon Old's Delivers

M.O. · June 6, 2015

An amazing book of great poetry, as always Sharon Old's delivers. One of, if not my favorite of her books.

Well worth reading if you are a fan of Sharon Olds

J.W. · June 28, 2015

Well worth reading if you are a fan of Sharon Olds. This is a very early book and so is not as focussed and accomplished as her later works. You can see that she is trying put ideas and themes - and not always successfully. I found it interesting to see how she has evolved from this to her recent prize winning collections. I would not recommend as an introduction to Olds work though.
