I wish this woman had continued to write. As a young lady (16), she wrote a best seller "The Outsiders" which became a really great movie that launched several major stars we live with today. She then wrote several more books along the same lines. Meaning they revolved around youth and the angst most teens go through trying to be a part of something and trying to understand how they were going to "Become" someone of merit and of use in the world they found themselves living in. "Tex" is one of them. What do I love especially? How the author writes. She seems to be able to wrap you up in the narrative. Like your part of it. The dialog is so real, so logical and easy to relate to. The stories she writes are also pristine in their emotional context. I just wish there were more of them.

Such a great purchase of a book! It did come in a little weird, but none pages were damaged, mostly the cover was bent.

I use books by S.E. Hinton to tutor reading. Kids who cannot read very well, do not like to read. These books are great for those kids. Middle school kids like these books. Even boys like them; don't tell them that SE stands for Susan Elizabeth! They assume it is a male author.

My purchase of S.E. Hinton's books have been one of my best purchases. My daughter is 16 and I could never get her to read. I was attending college during the start of her teenage years and she just wasn't interested in reading. Later a friend of mine in college suggested S.E. Hinton and how her writing would intrigue my daughter so I gave it a shot after a year and now my daughter has read all of S.E. Hinton's book and is continuing to read. I'm a very happy mom!PS I wish she would write more books:)

a tale that twists and leaves you feeling tender.
S.E. Hinton is back in my life! Introducing my young edgy teen, has been rewarding and interesting to see if the tech age kids can go for it. She does!I guess the love some have for horses is the foot hold in this story. Texas is a teen being looked after by his older brother Mace. Mace does something that is unforgivable in Tex's eyes, but vital to their survival in their hick town.Some people are stayers and some people are leavers, then their Pop comes back. A truth slips out and anger takes on a life of it's own, then leaves a nasty trail.It all seems so hopeless when Jamie becomes the forbidden light at the end of Tex's tunnel.I still have the teen in me after all these years.I'm so glad there is no such thing as out growing S. E. Hinton.
Great book
Well I have been trying to buy this book in Spain since I read it, and that was fifteen years ago. I'm really glad I finally got it, and in original english version...I recommend this book to anyone, because it's great. I loved the story, I loved the characters, and I think Mason is one of the best S. E. Hinton characters... He looks so hard but inside he's really sensible and loves his brother with his soul. I always loved him. Tex is so sweet though... He's great too.It's funny at times, and hard at times... And it explains the end of That was then, this is now!

The book was not damaged in any way and it was very good to read, the book was a good thickness and the cover was great
Simple and deep
This is one of those books that is deceptively simple, a slice of life. Within the simple narrative is that understanding of what it is to be lost and confused. A feeling that doesn’t go away with age and experience. It just hide slightly further below the surface.

Great book
