This textbook is a great book to learn about health systems delivery topics. The chapters are well written and researched. The text is written in a way that breaks down complex health systems topics into digestible pieces. This edition makes some clear improvements over the first edition text namely, a more reasoned introductory chapter that lays the groundwork for the importance of teaching Health Systems Sciences with medical school curricula. The chapters each include cases that highlight the direct application of health sciences to patient care scenarios, including realistic scenarios for students as well as faculty.I teach the Health Systems Sciences curriculum at the medical school where I am faculty and we use this book as the basis of our course and find that these chapters include much of the material in one place.*I have received a complimentary copy of the text for my review, but my views are my own.

I use this text for the medical school curriculum I lead on the topic of Health System Sciences. I've found it to be easily accessible for students and faculty, who are often learning alongside their students as this third pillar of medical education is relatively new. It is also a great price point considering the exorbitant cost of many texts. If you're looking for a general overview of the components of Health Systems Science, this is a great choice. I do supplement the readings with other material for a deeper dive when necessary.*I received my copy of this book for free in exchange for reviewing it, however the opinions listed are my own.

The book is poorly organized. Authors rarely come to the point. Information is convoluted and difficult to understand. Most of the material is useless and just repeated over and over. Offers very little good information.
