"Highly relatable to many pandemic parents, this handy how-to guide tells kids how to add a little pizzazz to Mom's workday with a little glitter and a four-legged assistant. (We'd say don't try this at home, but you probably already have.)"
—TODAY

"Employing digital chalk art, Doerrfeld offers countless details: laptop stickers, a conference call on-screen, and childlike artwork and signs ("Shhhh! Qwiet"). [This title] will especially resonate with guardians balancing pandemic-era remote work with childcare.
—Publishers Weekly

"Working from home is easy, especially if you have a pint-sized leader keeping you on task. (Not so much.) But when mom starts to appear a bit frazzled, will her "co-worker" tune in and help her manage the stress? Prepare to laugh (and cry) as you read this sweet and hilarious nod to the perks and pitfalls of working from home with kids."

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute - more silly that I thought

T. · May 13, 2022

This is a very cute book. Although I originally bought it to help my 4 year old understand why Mom works from home, the book has a slightly different story and ring to it. It's about all the fun silly things kids do to "help" mom work from home. You know... the things that actually add to your load while working from home. BUT I loved the part where the kids makes signs for his mom. My 4 year old went and made me one and my heart melted. I HIGHLY recommend it for a little laugh and cute connection for a mom and little one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend for every working parent you know!

An adorable picture book in verse that follows a little one’s “helpful” antics on a day when Mom works from home. The lively fun that ensues is charmingly illustrated by Doerrfeld.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Story

3.5 rounded to 4 StarsWhat parent hasn’t had a time when they needed to get some work done, yet their little one was dancing around needing attention? Now make that work correlate with a job and income. Before you know it your sweet, dancing, galloping child has got you tied up in knots. Oh for a little peace and quiet.I’m not gonna lie. This picture book may bring more smiles to adults than to kids. As mom settles down to work at home, her little one is over the moon happy. The first thing to do is style Mom’s hair for success. As Mom attempts to work at her laptop we see her trying to enjoy her coffee which has been spiked with glitter by her little helper. The floor has been littered in an effort to gather important supplies, toys, and line them up. Organizing pens with the addition of crayons on Mom's desk has her now standing with her laptop.Yes, in every child-imaginable way, being an assistant to a work-at-home Mom is keeping her young helper excited and busy. The two even work together on some things. My ConcernsThough this book made me smile, I don't work from home with small children. Will it be cute for people experiencing it, or their children? I hope so.Final ThoughtsThe story is sweet and at times made me chuckle. I think it is a fun way to illustrate that people aren’t alone with certain struggles. Hopefully, the story will lighten the situation and even bring some joy to sharing special time with little ones. The delightful illustrations complement the rhyming text beautifully.I see this book as a touching, humorous, way of honoring and recognizing someone you know who is/has experienced this situation. My thanks to the publisher for a gifted copy and the ability to post my review without stipulations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable & relatable - charming rhyme with bold illustrations

A. · March 8, 2022

This book is adorable! What's not to love about a perfect rhyming book that's delightful to read-out-loud and follows the "parallel" day of a mother and child with humor and heart?Diana Murray''s rhyming is, as always, spot-on, and Cori Doerffeld's art is bold and charming. I love that Cori drew the child free of gender stereotypes! A brilliant way to make it relatable to all kids.
