Intimate Issues: Twenty-One Questions Christian Women Ask About Sex

Description:

Intimate Issues answers the twenty-one questions about sex most frequently asked by Christian wives, as determined by a nationwide poll of over one thousand women. Written from the perspective of two mature Christian wives and Bible teachers–women who you’ll come to know as teachers and friends–Intimate Issues is biblical and informative: sometimes humorous, other times practical, but always honest. Through its solid teaching warm testimonials, scriptural insights, and experts’ advise, you’ll find resolution for your questions and fears, surprising insights about God’s perspective on sex, and a variety of practical and creative ideas for enhancing your physical relationship with the husband you love.

With warmth and wisdom, authors Linda Dillow and Lorraine Pintus speak woman to woman: examining the teachings of Scripture, exposing the lies of the world, and offering real hope that every woman’s marriage relationship can become all it was intended to be in God’s design.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“The best-no-holds barred book on the basic questions that Christian women ask about sex. This book will play a large part in healing lives that have been prisoners regarding God’s plan for healthy sexuality.”
–Emilie Barnes, Author

Intimate Issues may well be destined to become a definitive and defining work in Christian literature. Specific, practical, and scriptural, it may have more potential than any new work I have read in recent years.”
–Frank B. Minirth, M.D., The Minirth Clinic

“This is a mother-to-daughter book, a sister-to-sister gem to be shared. It is also a powerful resource for counselors and teachers, well-documented and deserving of serious attention.”
–Howard and Jeanne Hendricks, Center for Christian Leadership, Dallas Theological Seminary

“A much-needed, biblically-based handbook teaching God’s perspective concerning the wise use of His gift of physical intimacy.”
–Cynthia Heald, author and speaker

“Don’t be afraid of the word ‘sensuous.’ Linda and Lorraine present the union of two people so attractively, excitedly, and sacredly that anything less protected and binding seems cheap, tawdry, and counterfeit.”
–Vonette Zachary Bright, Campus Crusade for Christ

“More than an excellent and well-written book; it is an
important book. Intimate Issues gives practical help for every wife who longs to be a better lover to her husband as well as significant help for those who struggle with a painful past or a difficult present in their marriage. We highly recommend this book.”
–Carole and Jack Mayhall, The Navigators

“Finally, a book that honestly addresses the real sexual concerns of women! The result will be marriages that reflect the joy and passion God intended.”
–Mary Ann Mayo, M.A., M.F.C.C., A Woman’s Place Medical Center

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book

A. · January 24, 2006

I got this book for my wife a few years ago, and what a change it has made in our lives. I have owned three now, because I tend to give them to friends and then we wish we had it back in our library. I have always wondered why no one ever speaks on the rules of Christian Sex. I frankly tend to think that most Pastors choose to be silent on the topic because they are unsure or afraid to misslead you. I also have always thought that the same line of thinking has put Christians in bondage with the when in dout, just don't do it line of thinking. Isn't it funny, God speaks crystal clearly when he lays down laws everywhere else in the Bible. Could it be that God dident lay down all of do's and dont's in regards to sex in merriage because he left it up to you and your spouse? I aplaud the two ladies who had the courage to step up to the riticule of the victorian mindset, and explore the scripture for what was written, not what was injected by Religion. As with all translations, you should trust the spirit to guid your decisions, just because something is ok in one couples life dose not mean that is will be ok in another. If there truly is a condemnation of an act or practice, God dosent mince words. Thanks again ladies, for the best book ever published on this topic. When can we get a sequal?

I love this book and still read it today! This book feels like sitting down for a heart-to-heart talk with trusted sisters in Christ. The authors answer tough questions with sensitivity, scripture, and compassion there is no judgment, just truth and encouragement. It reminded me that God cares about every part of our lives, including intimacy. I highly recommend it for women who want a safe, faith-filled space to learn and heal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Resource for Engaged/Married Women

A.C. · March 30, 2018

I'm engaged to be married in a couple months. I picked up this book because I was curious (who isn't?) and had a lot of questions and reservations about sex. It has been such a valuable resource to me! It's so hard to transition from viewing sex as dirty, to seeing it as a wonderful, beautiful gift from God to be enjoyed unreservedly marriage, but by His grace, that's what this book has helped me to do. The advice is Biblical and written in a gentle, loving way without compromising God's truth about passion and intimacy in marriage. I am now going into my marriage with a positive and healthier, Biblical view on my impending sex life with my soon-to-be husband. What a gift to both of us! I would definitely recommend for engaged and married women!

If you are struggling in your personal intimate life with your husband, please read this book. It is very balanced, biblical, and compassionate. I love how these ladies are very balanced in their thinking and really delve into the scriptures for accuracy and clarity. It is very liberating to read this and have your mind renewed through scripture about how God created sex to be a beautiful celebration between a husband and a wife. I have really been liberated in my thinking and now I seek to please my husband, which I could never do before. I was too bound up in my emotions and thoughts because of very negative experiences that I had before I was married that tainted my view of intercourse. I wasn't able to really enjoy it the way God intended. I realized that I have robbed my husband of so much pleasure for so many years. No longer! This book has changed our marriage for the better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Decent enough book for married people

R.A.G. · November 23, 2024

We used this book in a Christian Bible study for presumedly, married women. Many teachable subjects were addressed. One might think to be in it for the long haul. A decent enough book about intimate issues between a married man and woman. Completely read through. You might save it on a bookshelf (a private one) to review in ten years. It tastefully covers the attitudes of women and tries to explain the men's side. Down to the details book, tastefully written. It doesn't say ignore your husband. Sincerely, Becky Dokter Grelson, November 2024 (Green eyed, five foot - eight, female).
