Lovely.
Pablo stories ate just lovely. Ideal bedtime reading.
A modern tale with heart, imagination and a good message
This is a very modern tale, it’s about different types of families and how a family can be anything you make it. I think this is very important for children to understand that a family can take different forms.I really like the fact that Pablo is autistic and not your typical subject of a children’s book. He is relatable and his animal friends are all really well realised and have personalities of their own. It is all about his imagination and children will defiantly relate to this.The illustrations are drawn in a sketch style and are pretty rough around the edges but this works as everything is child like and although the story is relatable in the real world the imagery is very unreal, my daughter loves looking at all the animals and pointing them out. The imagery is fitting for the overall set up that the animals are Pablo's book animal friends.I think colour is really one of the strong points of the book with beautiful, vibrant, bright and vivid colours to keep a child's interest.This is not a short book as children's books go but the wording is simple and spaced out well amongst the images. I think it is a good length to tell the story without overstaying its welcome.I think it’s the core story and imagery that matters, it tells a tale through the eyes of someone who is innocent yet optimistic and this it works. There are also some little notes of humour too, for example at one point the dinosaur thinks a tree is part of his family as it looks like him from a distance.This is a sweet tale with an important message but is also an engrossing story with vivid sketched images, they definitely appeal to our daughter and I love the sentiment in the book, a great fun story and education for little ones.
Colourful and fun
This is a large size and very colourful book, with lots of lovely pictures and an easy to follow storyline.As it’s based around a zoo it’s great to keep young children entertained as you can go slightly off the narrative and point out different animals if they’re getting bored with the story.These books are written by autistic writers and based on real life experiences, apparently there’s a TV series as well but I’m not familiar with that.Hope you found my review helpful
suitable for kids to learn range of emotions and personalities
Pablo At The ZooIf your child likes to watch Pablo on Cbeebies, then this book will be an excellent addition to your library. There is always something special about books because they're something you can feel and touch; you can read out loud from them and, at the same time, interact with your children. That's quite important when connecting with your child, whether they're in the spectrum or not.What's great about the Pablo series are the colors and characters; they're very vibrant, and all the animals are given a varied range of personalities - teaching the children how to interact with different people. This particular story talks about the real meaning of family - how to empathize and show love to the people we value. For children in the spectrum, it is crucial that they're introduced to the many emotions that others may have in reaction to an event. And eventually, when they do encounter these emotions in others, they will remember Pablo and how he responded to his friends.I think these books are a good gift for all kids and new parents.
Family is more than a mum or dad, or brothers or sisters
A fun story book to read and children to enjoy. It's about a boy called Pablo, who has book animal friends from where he draws his stories. Pablo and his friends go to the zoo and his book animal friends meet up with their families. One of them, noa a dinosaur, doesn't have his family at the zoo and gets upset. Pablo explains family doesn't have to be mums or dad's, or brothers or sisters, it's whoever looks out for you and will always be there for you. Each page is bright and colourful, which has all been illustrated well, bringing the story to life. All the words are printed boldly and clearly. No complicated words which children wouldn't understand. The story is easy to read and follow. The paperback book is of a good size. Excellent quality, well made with thick pages. A great story to show families aren't the same for everyone.
