Editorial Reviews

Review

"This text has the right amount of breadth and depth for an introductory and possibly a mid-level course. I think there is a good balance of the history, societal issues, and pharmacology." ―Amanda Carey, Simmons University

"Martha's writing style is refreshingly unique, and her genuine interest in the field is very evident." ―David Soriano, University of Pittsburgh-Bradford

"It's an accessible text that not only focuses on biological effects of drugs and addiction, but the societal and human impacts of drug use as well. Students will not only learn the material but also valuable lessons that they will use in their own life." ―Natashia Laine Swalve, Alma College

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful textbook

This was the book for my substance abuse class. It is full of typos. It also suggests that the withdrawal method is an effective male contraceptive. The book felt more like a how to be a criminal or maybe pharmacology book. Universities can do way better than this book.
