5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners
The Trading Book is one of the better trading books I’ve read because it balances technical systems with the psychology side of trading. Anne-Marie Baiynd explains tools like moving averages, Fibonacci levels, and Bollinger Bands in a way that’s easy to follow, but what really stands out is how she ties it all together into a rules-based approach.I appreciated that she includes real trade examples, showing both wins and mistakes, and how to learn from them. The section on discipline and “emotional capital” is especially valuable—it’s not just about charts and entries, but about managing fear, overtrading, and sticking to your plan. This book is best for beginners to intermediate traders who want a framework for building consistency. If you’re already very advanced, you may find the technical side familiar, but the reminders about risk management and mindset are still worth the read.Overall, it’s a grounded, practical guide that doesn’t promise overnight success but gives you tools and perspective to actually improve. Highly recommend if you’re serious about trading.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple trading plan!
One of the best trading books I have read. She gives you actual set ups that help with a simple plan to trade on the stock market. Easy to read and beat teamed up with the Trading Book Course.
5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, practical and straightforward delivery
The book makes the information presented so easy to grasp so I keep reminding myself that mastery takes discipline, hard work, excellent record keeping, and consistent iteration.
4.0 out of 5 stars A very accessible and sensible book for traders who already have some familiarity with chart setups.
General note: Kindle versions of books abut trading are generally very frustrating to read because of the inclusion of charts and diagrams. Based on my experience, I would not recommend buying books on trading, or any subject where there is reference to Figures or Illustrations, in Kindle format. It's too annoying to keep toggling back and forth. If you are at all interested in day trading, this is a great book to read to gain an understanding of what is required to become a successful trader. Those who do not understand the work involved in the constant, and consistent, study of the markets and the charts are those who will just as easily lose the potentially large amount of money they thought was, hey, so easy to make. It's no easy endeavor, but it does reward those who put in the work learning and applying the system that works for them. Ms. Baiynd's is one such system.Even though the trading system I use differs a bit from the author's (I use something other than Fibs to determine potential scale backs of positions and exits, as well as continuation - and I swing trade instead of day trade), I still found this book to be very helpful, particularly in the chapters pertaining to the psychological/emotional side of trading. Ms. Baiynd has a way of very concisely writing about that most crucial aspect of trading that is very impactful and stays in your mind long after you've read it. She has been able to state in a few very effective chapters what others have strung out in very lengthy, tedious (and expensive) books. That alone is worth the price of this book, in my opinion. The main thing is that this is not a book for raw beginners. Those who are approaching chart trading and technical analysis for the first time are not going to get all of the instructions they need to get started. But this book will be very helpful to those who have a basic knowledge of charts as well as those who are struggling to find a day trading system that works. Some of Ms. Baiynd's approach, though she is a day trader, is definitely applicable to the swing trader. It's all relative to the time frames of the charts you use, so applying her method to a larger time frame seems very workable. So why not 5 stars? As much as I enjoyed this book and applaud the usability of it and good sense in it, I wish Ms Baiynd had included more information about how she chooses strike prices. She alludes to them in a couple of examples that are too specific to be generally applied, but unlike the rules she lays out for the use of her chosen indicators, there are none for determining strike prices - when to buy in, out (and how far in or out) or at the money and when. In a book called "The Trading Book," I think a chapter on which options to buy, or sell, would be a given. You can have everything right in a trade entry and exit, but you really need to know how to determine which strike price to buy to get the most out of the trade.Other than that, this is one of the most accessible and sensible books I have ever read on trading. My other favorite is Brian Shannon's Technical Analysis Through Multiple Timeframes, which is not only one of the most important trading books for me personally, but is, not surprisingly, also one of Ms. Baiynd's favorite, informing the foundation of her excellent system.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Trading Book!
I bought this book in 2011, read it, and have now (2019) started to go through it once again. I had highlighted a bunch of areas that were important to me at the time and they still hold true. This book will give you rules to follow before and during a trade that will make a huge difference in your trading day. Extremely helpful. Thank you Anne-Marie Baiynd for taking the time to write this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book but get the paper version
I liked the book and the authors style of writing the minute I started reading it. She has a clear, honest tone that makes following what she is saying pretty easy. I bought this book for the Kindle but got frustrated about midway through because she frequently refers to charts and has you referencing charts quite a bit. That is painful to do on a Kindle. So, I liked the book so much I am purchasing the paper version too so I can follow along more easily. The strategy the author describes is an assortment of momentum, market psychology, and technical analysis. That happens to be what works for me in the markets so this book makes sense and I am learning some new tricks. Overall, I am happy with the book.
1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Investment
Although the book has some good concepts, it is extremely one sided and takes time to get to the point of a methodology. I purchased the eBook for Kindle and it clearly shows that the author had no interest in making an electronic version of the book. Pages well in advance are referenced, so it is extremely frustrating to page back and forth to read an explanation of a chart five pages away. This book is overpriced and incompatible as an eRead. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Geniale Walkthroughs
Nothing but just a bunch of papers nicely binded in nice cover.
Till the last page of the book you will be confused what exactly the writer wanted to say, the language in itself is not up to the mark, no clear approach and concepts, sometimes it looks like writer is agree to say that just put your trade and pray to god that it go in favourable direction. Everything is vague unclear and doubtful in this book. And of course one will get this waste of time by paying a huge amount of money which is definitely not acceptable.
Simple is best
A simple, effective trading system that is explained clearly, step by step. Well worth reading more than once for sound explanations on trading tools and indicators used in system. Only gripe - some diagrams appear on different pages to text. One of my top five books. Don't bother with her alternative trading course book. Nothing new there and not really a course.
