The Club: A Novel

Description:

A REESE'S BOOK CLUB PICK

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“Are you ready for the roller coaster ride that is The Club? . . . A beautifully written, densely plotted murder mystery that takes place at a private club off the coast of England. Read about a luxurious, celeb-only island during a weekend of partying and ultimately murder.” —Reese Witherspoon (Reese’s Book Club March ’22 Pick)

From the author of People Like Her comes a smart and sinister murder mystery set in the secretive world of exclusive celebrity clubs.

Everyone's Dying to Join . . .

The Home Group is a glamorous collection of celebrity members' clubs dotted across the globe, where the rich and famous can party hard and then crash out in its five-star suites, far from the prying eyes of fans and the media.

The most spectacular of all is Island Home—a closely-guarded, ultraluxurious resort, just off the English coast—and its three-day launch party is easily the most coveted A-list invite of the decade.

But behind the scenes, tensions are at breaking point: the ambitious and expensive project has pushed the Home Group's CEO and his long-suffering team to their absolute limits. All of them have something to hide—and that's before the beautiful people with their own ugly secrets even set foot on the island.

As tempers fray and behavior worsens, as things get more sinister by the hour and the body count piles up, some of Island Home’s members will begin to wish they’d never made the guest list.

Because at this club, if your name’s on the list, you’re not getting out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great writing

C. · August 17, 2023

was what kept me hooked to the book and the characters what made it unputdownable for me.The mystery wasn’t that deep and the twists weren’t too surprising but that the gallery of characters and their flawed humanity counterbalance it and provide enough entertainment.Lovely written, it’ll shock you and awe you in the same chapter.Although I didn’t find anything too original in the debate about fame and life in the public eye, it added nicely to the plot. All in all a great summer read - do recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable!

D.R.G. · March 19, 2024

This is a fun romp through a carefully crafted story about the people most us idolize: pop stars, A-listers, and TV stars, and the Club only they can belong to.Few books surprise me, but the Club did, and it was a gratifying end. Do yourself a favor and read this exciting thriller – it won’t let you down.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Club I Don’t Want To Belong To

R.R. · January 1, 2024

I kept trying to read this book. I would start it, read a couple of paragraphs and get bored. I finally powered through enough to engage but it did continually lose my interest. At first it seemed like there were too many characters to keep track of. I actually made a cheat sheet so I could go to it and remember what part they played in the narrative. In the end I found the premise too ridiculous. The celebrities too obnoxious and the ending too annoying. It seems this author REALLY hates celebrities. It was a quick read but nothing remarkable about it. I will give it 3 stars because the mystery was decent but the rest was just way too over the top for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Welcome Home!

R.S. · June 14, 2025

This book had so many characters and such a complicated story line, I kept going back to figure it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just plain fun

A. · June 18, 2025

This book won't change the world, but it is a deliciously fun read that keeps you guessing until the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars hard to follow

a. · July 25, 2025

It was okay- hard to follow. Maybe it was the many story lines or that I just didn’t vibe with it. This book is ‘ok’ but I don’t think I’d recommend it for anyone needing a quick read. I for sure had to revisit previous chapter sections to keep up. The author though- very good at telling a story and very good at creating characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a thriller

M.A. · August 29, 2025

This book was disappointing to me. None of the characters were likable and it was hard to keep track of each one, even with their names listed at the beginning. Mystery but nothing too surprising at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read the book

M. · July 8, 2025

Full review on good reads. Think the British version of the show Dallas. 4 ⭐book, but you decide.

White lotus wannabe

J.P. · September 30, 2024

Ever since the tv show White Lotus came out, it feels like there has been a surge of stories about elite, super luxurious resorts, where a body is discovered and the story centres around uncovering the mystery with many quirky and unsavoury characters. The Club is a decent read but fell too squarely in this genre for me.

A very good character description

F. · May 8, 2025

A murder mystery set in a luxirious setting.Soho house meeting Agatha Christie.

Ricos comportiendo muy mal!

B.v. · June 15, 2022

good read

G. · March 11, 2022

I don’t usually read books about murders but I did enjoy reading this one. I liked the way it weaved from person to person to different time lines….my interest was held till the very last page.

WHO is who and what do they do?

u. · April 16, 2022

Das fragt man sich bei jedem Kapitel aufs Neue. Viele Protagonisten erschweren es dem Leser am Ball zu bleiben.Ich werde den im Grunde spannenden Roman daher noch einmal lesen.
