So sad that this is the last book, but at least it was a happy ending. I still can’t get over the fact that Anderson may still be alive, which brings to question whether or not Mafi will continue the series. I’ve read the previous books three times in anticipation for this final book, and I was not dissatisfied. LOVE THIS SERIES AND RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Team Kenji - He carried the team...

K.G. · June 2, 2021

**spoiler alert** -3.5, but I rounded to 4 stars as the series as a whole was fantastic-This is the story we needed but not the story we wanted."How did I forget what had happened just hours earlier? How did I forget the moment he asked me to marry him? It was a glitch. It felt like a glitch. Where there was once a memory was suddenly a vacancy, a cavity held empty only until nudged into realignment."Juliette is losing her grasp on reality as Emmaline enters her mind. She finds it hard to distinguish what is real and what is imagined. Seeing as her mind has been erased and reprogrammed numerous times, it's not hard to believe. I nearly threw my kindle against a wall a few times. Warner and Ella are engaged; it is only what I have been waiting for since "Destroy Me," and it is brushed over. Then the questions followed. How did Ella get kidnapped? Didn't Warner hide her? Clones? Anderson and Juliette!? It made zero sense. The plot drags on for what seems like years. When we finally get to the climax, it ends so quickly and abruptly that it felt unfinished. Warner holds Ella/Juliette, and she miraculously recovers? Adam is somehow still "alive?" Nazerra is a super hacker? It was all just so rushed to get to the "happy ending," but even that felt rushed. If it were not for Kenji and how involved I became with these characters, I would have stopped reading. I think Tahereh is a brilliant writer, and I loved all of the books prior, but this felt rushed.Overall, the series is a 5/5. Unfortunately, this was just not the ending I felt the characters deserved. Thank you, Tahereh, for taking us on quite a ride!

The complexity of her dual identity becomes a central theme as she navigates the blurred lines between right and wrong amid an escalating conflict with The Reestablishment. As old enemies reemerge and the stakes rise, Ella must confront the realities of her intertwined fate and the potential loss of control over her destiny. Mafi masterfully weaves suspense and introspection into the narrative, immersing readers in a world that questions loyalty, agency, and the essence of self. **"Imagine Me"** delivers a powerful conclusion that not only resolves the intricacies of Juliette and Warner's journey but also challenges the definitions of identity and choice, making it a must-read for fans seeking a gripping and satisfying end to this beloved saga.

My niece loves it

3.0 out of 5 stars It should have stayed a trilogy...

J.W. · May 17, 2020

(SPOILER ALERT)This was NOT my favorite book out of the series. Honestly, I like this story better as a trilogy. However, I do love the way she writes and I still read this book fairly quickly. There was A LOT happening in this book. Almost too much? I understand she needed to up the stakes, but I liked the first three books and who Juliette was, where she came from and her purpose etc back then. This twist that happened in the fourth or fifth book with Juliette having a sister and there being a ton of other things that we didn't know about... I felt like it was a reach; a stretch that didn't need to be.There's a quote for artist that says, 'Art is never done. You have to abandon it.' Perhaps this story should have been done after the third. The thing I liked least about this book was that Juliette didn't play a driving force in the plot. In fact, she was hardly in it at all. I found this frustrating.Kenji (Who i love), did most of the story telling. And while I love him, I count on him for the comic relief, the best friend, etc. It was strange with him taking the lead on this book. I agree with previous reviews that this book felt rushed. It felt like there were holes. And then James had a little role in the book and Adam might as well not have been there at all. And he came in at the very end as a completely changed person... A total 180. It felt rushed. Trying to tie up loose ends quickly. We don't know how he feels about Juliette or about how her and Warners relationship changes in this book. (I think he would have some feelings toward it. And I'd like to know James reaction as well...)And then of course theres Warner. I disliked the fact that he was a horrible person without Juliette. I mean Kenji was broken up about her being in trouble and gave in to the unknowns from time to time, but his character didn't revert back to three books ago... Like may aspects of this book, it was a little unrealistic; a little over dramatic.Lastly, Warners Dad not being able to die and how he kept coming back from the dead... I could have done without that. It was such a trumpet moment in the third book when 'J' killed him and it felt like it took away from that.Anyways. sorry to be a downer about this book. I'm still processing. Ill leave with this: I will forever read Taherehs' books. She's still a wonderful writer and story teller. This one just wan't my favorite.

not for the faint hearted

This novel breaks all the rules of plot structure. It starts on a climax, builds to another, and another and so on until it ends on an emotional climax! This cannot be the end.

Imagine Me

F. · August 14, 2025

Imagine Me is an intense, emotional rollercoaster that took me through every high and low of Juliette, Warner, and Kenji’s journey. Picking up right after Defy Me, the story wastes no time plunging us into chaos. Juliette, finally finding a semblance of peace at the Sanctuary, is ripped from it when Emmaline invades her mind. Watching Juliette lose herself again was heartbreaking—her memories wiped, her identity threatened, and her vulnerability laid bare. The tension of seeing someone so strong reduced to a weapon for the Reestablishment was palpable, and it made her eventual triumph all the more satisfying.Warner’s arc during this book is hauntingly beautiful. After Juliette is captured, he becomes like a ghost—haunted by worry, loss, and helplessness—but he never stops fighting for her. His grief and determination are layered with the trademark Warner intensity, and you can feel the weight of every step he takes toward bringing her back. Kenji, too, is incredible in this book. Despite struggling with the trauma of Juliette’s capture and the overwhelming stakes, he never breaks. He remains a pillar of strength, showing resilience and unwavering loyalty. The mission to rescue Juliette is edge-of-your-seat thrilling. Warner, Kenji, and Nazeera team up to save her, navigating danger and confronting the Reestablishment with courage and determination. The teamwork is inspiring, showing how loyalty, love, and friendship can overcome even the darkest manipulation. Watching Warner reclaim Juliette, despite everything Anderson did to her, is a cathartic moment. It’s not just a physical victory but an emotional one, showing the power of love and trust to overcome control. The climactic confrontation with Anderson and the supreme commanders is brutal, intense, and completely satisfying. Juliette’s powers, once a source of fear, now serve as a symbol of her reclaimed identity. The final battle, including the takedown of the supreme commanders, is fierce and empowering, marking a definitive end to Anderson’s reign and setting the stage for a future shaped by choice rather than control.Overall, Imagine Me is a perfect, gripping conclusion to Juliette’s journey. It’s emotional, thrilling, and deeply satisfying. The character development, particularly Warner’s ghostly grief, Kenji’s unwavering strength, and the trio’s teamwork to save Juliette, makes it a standout finale. The story closes with hope, healing, and new beginnings, leaving me both heartbroken and elated for what comes next in their lives.

One of my all time favorite series now!

W.L. · March 10, 2025

This was a great conclusion to the series and I still cannot believe it’s over now. There was so much going on from Juliette getting taken away to the final battle towards the end and I really, really enjoyed every single page. I loved the book but the ending kind of felt so rushed to me and I’m still unsure about Anderson’s death after everything we’ve seen in the past. I also wished we could’ve gotten this in Aaron’s pov but that’s okay since we got it in the last novella which is my favourite part and the best way to end the series. I’m still not ready to say goodbye to the characters though so I will definitely reread the series again whenever I miss the characters!
