This is one of the most useful books I own. I keep it next to my Bible, so that when I'm reading the Old Testament, knowing I'm going to have to be reading the names of people and places in ancient Israel out loud to others, I can look these words up. I then make little phonetic notations in my Bible, and the reading goes smoothly. It's a small book with HUGE worth to me. Glad I found it several years ago. A faithful friend and helper!

Seems accurate. Pretty durn useful for preparing to speak or teach or preach these Biblical words and place names. As a simple example, are you positive about pronouncing Capernaum?

Nice and concise. Excellent book on the correct pronunciation of words. Extremely helpful for uneducated folks like me. No more pronouncing names and places incorrectly. Highly recommend if your Bible doesn’t include pronunciation section for names, places, and things.

There are not many Scripture scholars around. They are rare. Their knowledge of the ancient languages--that form a part of their scholarship--does not have a place in our lives either. Most of us have not studied the Scriptures formally in any way at all.We still might love reading the Scriptures as a part of our own spiritual growth. We also might hack away at learning what we can, when we can. We might even find ourselves in a position of being part of a small Bible Study group in our community. We also might find ourselves called to be a Lector in our Church.One of the ways in overcoming our fears that are connected with: discussing the Bible among others, or reading the day's readings in front of the Congregation, is knowing the pronunciation of the words in front of us. We must admit: some of these are difficult and challenging words--especially those in the Old Testament--especially words that have no easy translation into English from the original Hebrew: names like Harosheth-ha-goiim. Or, in the Book of Daniel, there's Jehoiakim, Nebuchadnezzar, Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Further still, be the Lector at a Christmas event where the genealogy in the first chapter of Matthew needs to be read!The easiest way of getting through this is by owning this pronunciation guide, and practicing with it. It really helps! And, you will see: others will be impressed! They might even think you have embarked on some high-power Scripture Study class.I believe that this is the most comprehensive and helpful guide available.

Great Help for Bible Readers
This is a wonderful help for those involved in reading Scripture either publicly or privately. I wish I had got my hands on it earlier in life but sadly did not know about it. I recommend it highly and it is dirt cheap!
