5.0 out of 5 stars Good for scientests, religionists and believers...

J. · April 24, 2015

Stimulating considerations for the nominally religious, and real believers, alike. Those who just enjoy a little philosophical exchange will not be disappointed. Christians, who have advanced beyond philosophical religion, will enjoy this challenge even more. Read this with your Bible open and expand your paradigms a bit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rich, dense, challenging, and insightful

C.B. · May 22, 2013

I found Barbour's book thought provoking, rich with ideas new to me, and a spring board for more thoughts in my faith and understanding of the world. From other readings, such as Polkinghorne, I have seen that Barbour is one of the most quoted and respected thinkers and writers on the intersection of religion and science. I have given this book as a gift twice. I continually go back from time to time to re-read passages and make connections to my current reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Work on a Challenging Subject

W.P.S.J. · February 26, 2014

I'm retired now, reading some of the books I should have read before now. This is a relatively recent book, 1990's, that should become a classic in the field. Barbour wrestles with the deep questions in a lucid manner. He knew his subject well. He tells some stories that can be used in Sunday school. This is a classic that should be used often by serious students, teachers, and clergy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic text

S.W. · April 14, 2011

Barbour famously divided approaches to science and religion into conflict, independence, dialogue, and integration. Regardless of your worldview, educated readers benefit from knowing this classic text. Fundamentalists in science or religion will rankle at Barbour's liberal stance on many issues. His writing is clear but dry; thorough but bookish. It holds prominence in the field, but it takes a special person to enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is very deep of thought and research. It is written by a scientist for scientist.

E.H. · March 11, 2014

Much of this book I had to read over and over several times to understand it. Definitely not in leymans terms.
