Took me back in minutes. Setup took barely any thought and the controllers worked straight off the bat. Played for hours without glitching or freezing, which is rare with these kinds of things. Didn’t expect the games to feel so smooth, and everything responded well even from a bit of distance. No wires dragging across the room, no fiddly bits—just switched on and it worked. Never felt like it was trying too hard to be flashy either, which I appreciated. Found myself digging into old favourites I hadn’t touched in years. Great for a few mates or just killing time alone.

This retro games console is basically a HDMI stick device, like one of those small window pc's that you can just plug into the back of a monitor and do simple tasks without taking up a huge space. It comes with two cheap-feeling controllers that are designed to look like Playstation 5 ones, but with only basic functionality like you had on the NES ones back in the 80's. No tactile triggers or 360 lateral thumb controls here, i'm afraid. The device is pretty light as well, so carrying it around to play round a mates house is perfectly practical.The games is what we're all mainly interested in and they say 21,000 on the box, although it's more like around 19800 or so, and you're going to get duplicates of games where there are different editions. You have NES, GameGear, Genesid, Gameboy and some of the not so great PS1 games here and the ones I tested seem to run ok. I don't think i'd recommend trying to do any work to change the built-in titles for more modern consoles like the PS2 upwards, as the device looks to be pretty underpowered for anything that requires a bit more power. But you got it for retro games anyway, so nothing really wrong here.The two controllers are wireless and directly connect, so it literally does just play right out of the box. You also have an extra cable to go between HDMI and the device, so you don't need to plug the console straight into the HDMI and find it putting pressure on the socket of your telly unsupported.The console front-end works decent enough. You have the usual multiple save-states for each game but it's a set system really unless you wanted to mod it, in which case i'd suggest knowing what you're doing. I'd have liked to have Amiga and C64 games on this as well, but no intentions of trying to mess around and do it when you can just get a more configurable console instead, or a PI.

There's tons of these emulator sticks floating around.This is an above-average release, in that the games are more clearly labelled, and most of them have meaningful screenshots.The selection of games bundled with it is pretty comprehensive - all of the big-name titles you'd expect are present on each of the systems.The emulators work fine.The stick is using the SEGAM 066 EM V1.0.0 2024-04-16 15:08 firmware. I am not sure if this is a firmware that is moddable - but if it is, then you would be able to upgrade the device's performance with a better quality (faster access speed) SD card and running Retroarch on it.As it stands, it's pretty good as it is.Main annoyance would be that the controllers are poor and unresponsive: They're each powered by two AAA batteries, which is annoying; and they're not particularly good. Not the worst I've used, but not really comfortable to play with - both the buttons and the D-pads feel unresponsive.But they're connected via a wireless dongle plugged into a USB port - so there is the prospect of connecting up your own controllers to avoid this problem: Although that could quite easily be prohibitively fiddly if it doesn't just work out-of-the-box with your wired controller. Requiring you to mess around with the SD card and look for config files to manually edit; or maybe necessitating installing Retroarch.The connectivity of the device is fine - same as an Bolo Firestick.
