I ordered this to use with my Sage Bambino Plus as I was having difficulty consistently tamping the coffee. This feels so much weightier and better quality than the original one provided, and is so easy to use. Just push it down onto the coffee until it clicks, and you’re done! It’s impossible to over tamp with this, you even get a swirly pattern in your ground coffee which looks amazing! Highly recommend this

I’m still quite new to the home-Barista thing, having recently upgraded from a semi-automatic bean-to-cup machine to a “proper” espresso maker, with a multitude of adjustments for grind size, weight etc. One constant in the instruction leaflet is to apply a tamping force of 10-15kg, tweaking the other settings to get an appropriately timed expression - but how to determine what this force feels like?Enter the spring-loaded coffee tamper from the GreeSuit store, which provides a consistent tamping force of 30lbs (or 13.6kg in new money) - bang on the sweet-spot for a perfect brew. The non-adjustable tamper is a nicely weighted item, sitting nicely in the hand and providing a solid click when the desired tamping force is applied. The ridged pattern of the base is neatly repeated on the compressed coffee grounds, which is claimed to allow more even saturation in the brew head.As I continue to explore different beans and roasts, I can at least be sure that one element of my coffee brewing process is easily controlled.

I didn't expect to be so impressed with such a little gadget but this has really improved my tamping; there's a noticeable difference from when I tamp myself even when being very careful to apply pressure as evenly as possible.It fits perfectly in my Sage 54mm portafilter with the edge resting on the rim of the basket so it's impossible to tamp unevenly. It gives a satisfying "click" when you've applied enough pressure and leaves a lovely pattern on the top of the grounds.I've deducted a single star because it didn't seem to have the same effect when using in the bottomless portafilter we also own even though it's the same size and using the exact same basket.

The media could not be loaded. This tamper is great! I’ve gone through a few different tampers over time, and this one stands out because it’s a true constant tamper. Instead of just pushing back vaguely like other models, this has a double-ended spring that *clicks* once the 30lb pressure is reached. That clicking feature is the best part – you just press down until you hear it, and you know you’ve hit the right pressure every single time. No more second-guessing. **Sound ON to hear the click in the video**The design also makes it easier to stay consistent. You don’t need to worry about keeping it perfectly flat or balanced because the rim holds it flush against the portafilter basket. That means less hand strain and fewer uneven pucks, especially if you’re pulling multiple shots in a row.It’s also nice and durable, built from stainless steel with a solid aluminum handle. This is my first spring loaded tamper and I am absolutely impressed by the quality of materials and performance!Firstly, the spring loaded feature is a game changer for puck prep as it allows for consistent pressure each time resulting in more consistent espresso shots. You simply press it down until you hear a “click” and you are done. The ripple effect on the base is also a neat feature and something I have not had in my other tampers. It actually seems to help distribute water more effectively when pouring a shot.The other aspect I love about this tamper is both the sleek modern look and also the weight. This is a heavy solid metal tamper and I love a nice weighted tamper (rather than a light one) so that is something to keep in mind. If you want something lightweight, this might not be the option for you as the entire thing is metal. For those who like a nice weighted tamper with a ripple base, this is an absolute winner and a gem!So happy with this tamper and would absolutely purchase again!
Pretty Decent Tamper
Espresso Coffee Tamper 53.3mm, 30lb Spring Loaded CalibratedIt's a pretty good tamper. Made of all metal, beats my old plastic one by miles. 32.88 is pretty pricey, but it should last forever. Maybe an heirloom lol.

Great with the Breville Barista Pro
I got this to use with my Breville Barista Pro. I feel like I am never sure if I am applying enough pressure when tamping my espresso, and now I don't have to worry. When I first took it out of the package, I was worried that I hadn't paid attention to sizing and it would be too big, but it is perfect. I've been really excited to use it, except none of my friends or family care when I start talking about it. Anyway, even if no one else cares, at least I know that my espresso pucks are now perfectly tamped.
