A Quick, Interesting Craft That Produces A Lovely Product
While on a short holiday just last week, we visited a large urban market where there were numerous crafts for sale. One of the items that most interested my wife were the flowers (tulips and daisies) made from pipe cleaners that one of the vendors was selling. While we didn’t purchase any, my wife asked me to keep an eye out for any craft kits which would involve pipe cleaners. In a happy coincidence, I found this set to order.The fact that this set allows you to create tulips, my wife’s favourite flower, really piqued her interest and she opened the set right away. Inside she found lots of pipe cleaners, a bundle of 100 lime green ones as well as smaller bundles (with 30 in each) containing pastel shades of pink, purple, orange, rose, yellow, blue, and turquoise. In addition, there were 30 wire flower stems, two rolls of floral tape, a small roll of ribbon, a wrapping paper, and bag. The final item was a full colour instruction manual containing photos outlining the steps required to create your gift bouquet.Each flower requires four lime green and six pastel coloured pipe cleaners; in total the kit provides enough material to create twenty-five tulips. The steps in creating each individual flower are straightforward and involve mostly folding, twisting, and shaping the pipe cleaners into petal and leaf shapes. There are a number of good videos on line if you find that the instruction manual is not specific enough (some vary slightly in their instructions and others use a glue gun to hold everything together). Overall, the craft is not difficult although it’s not one I would try with younger children.The materials in the kit are very nice; my only complaint would be that the flower tape included does not match the lime green colour of the pipe cleaners used in creating the stems; this results in a noticeable mismatch. We will likely pick up a better matching tape at the local craft store.This is a quick, interesting craft that produces a lovely product. My wife really enjoys it and will likely keep the bouquet she is creating as a decoration in our home. At its current price of $24 CAD, it is reasonably priced and, already nicely packaged, would make a lovely gift for the crafter in your life. Highly recommended.
