For years my coffee on the school run was whatever lukewarm sludge dribbled from the flask. This little AMZCHEF cylinder has changed the routine completely. Pop in 20 ml of water, press the button, and about three minutes later it reaches roughly 92 °C. It then forces the water through at 20 bar, and what comes out has a crema thick enough to make you think it came from a proper café machine.The built-in 9000 mAh battery is more useful than I expected. I usually get three or four lattes, or half a dozen short shots, before the display tells me to find a USB-C cable. That is ideal at the campsite, where every plug socket is already commandeered by the children’s tablets.It takes both loose grounds and Nespresso-style capsules, thanks to a generous 12 g chamber. The touch panel and small LCD show temperature and battery level, so there is no guesswork. I also like the rubberised base, which grips anything up to a 90 mm mug and saves the car dashboard from sticky splashes.Gripes? The fixed 20 ml pour feels miserly if you think in mug sizes, and the pump lets out a sci-fi whirr that makes my son glance skywards for incoming spacecraft.Even so, the flavour, sturdy build and genuine barista-level pressure make it a brilliant bit of kit for caffeine-starved parents who are constantly on the move.

I have been carting this dinky coffee maker around in my rucksack for the past week, and it has done wonders for both morale and caffeine levels. The AMZCHEF delivers a solid 20 bar of pressure, heats 20 millilitres of water from chilly to espresso-ready in a shade over three minutes, and its chunky 9000 mAh battery will knock out four steaming lattes or plenty of cold brews before it starts hinting for a USB-C recharge. You can feed it 12 grams of your own ground coffee as well as the little NS capsules, so I alternate between my home-roasted Colombian beans and a supermarket pod depending on how organised I was when I left the house.The crema is thick enough to hold a sugar crystal, the LCD screen shows at a glance how much battery and temperature headroom remains, and the rubber base latches onto a travel mug so it does not skate across the camping table. It is not perfect, mind. A 20 millilitre shot feels miserly, the motor whines like a wasp trapped in a jam jar, and you need either thin fingers or a proper brush to clean out the brewing chamber.Quibbles aside, the machine feels well put together, the battery lasts longer than my phone, and the freedom to flit between loose grounds and capsules is genuinely useful. If you fancy real espresso off-grid, this little gadget offers cracking value for money.

If you're really a fan of coffee and one to travel with a very light confirmation of your own this is the one for your. It can use lots of parts and it is amazingly and can back up very quickly. Loving it for the time being and hopefully it stays like that.

Full disclosure I have only used this with Nespresso pods and hot water so far but it works well. I am not sure if I would use it with grounds and cold water but you never know. I like the convenience of pods and the speed of the brew with hot water. Its heavy and solidly built, it produces a decent espresso with a reasonable crema using 40 mls of water. It’s not perfect but for a portable device it is certainly better and easier than any other I've used either manual or electric and the coffee it produces is way better than suffering instant. Compared to similar of its type is a good price.It is easy to use and extracts quite quickly, the coffee is hot and strong as you would expect from a bigger machine. the only think I would have liked that is not there is a bag or case to store it in for traveling. It is a thumbs up from me .... so far !

Hefty and beautifully made tamper

This chunky boy weighs a solid 323 grams or 11.4 ounces. I have many other tampers in size 54 and this one of the heaviest - I love it! The handle is made from beautifully polished wood and is attached to heavy metal base nicely. No play at all. The base itself is plain, matte finished dish which I much prefer over the grooved bases like some others.I am using it with 54mm pf and this tamper slides in it effortlessly. The machining is perfect and metal base cannot be scratched easily. I don't put the tamper in rubber mat. It just lives anywhere on the tabletop and base is like new still.To summarize, this is a great simple (no springs) tamper with beautiful wooden handle. I have been using it over the spring loaded tamper and liking it for its simplicity and feel in hand.

Cette presse à café a été fabriqué avec un soin évident qui lui confère un style unique au design particulièrement inspiré.En bref, l'objet en lui même est tout simplement magnifique.La partie en métal, lourde, permet de tasser le café sans effort et de manière uniforme grâce à un niveau de finition exceptionnel.Le manche en bois n'est pas en reste et flatte à la fois l'oeil et la main. Joliment nervuré, et pourvu d'une forme ronde qui permet une parfaite prise en main.L'ensemble arrive en 2 parties, soigneusement protégées, qu'il suffit de joindre en vissant le manche sur sa base.Au final, on dispose d'un objet magnifique et raffiné, que l'on peut exposer fièrement dans son espace café et qui remplit à merveille sa fonction première (on pourra toutefois l'utiliser sans honte comme presse papiers!)

This is a very nice espresso tamper. The metal part has nice, even weight to it. The handle feels very natural to grip. I love the wooden material because it looks luxurious and stylish. The surface is smooth and great for packing.

This 53mm Coffee Tamper/Espresso Press is perfect by design for style and function. It has clean simple lines. It is heavy yet well-balanced. It’s just the right fit in my portafilter. It is very easy to clean. The handle design is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It is beautifully milled 304 stainless steel and won’t corrode or rust. I confidently recommend this tamper.

Vu le niveau de finition, manche mal adapté, diamètre inférieur à 58mm (57.9mm), rayure sur le métal...On est soit du MADE IN PAKISTAN OU CHINA...Bref, on est sur du très bas de gamme, qui ne permet pas un tassage parfait, car il laisse des zones sur le pourtour extérieur moins tassées et ça génère une extraction non uniforme...Bref, pour monsieur tout le monde, ça passera, mais si vous êtes un peu pointilleux sur la préparation de votre expresso, ce n'est pas pour vous !(Testé sur une Gaggia Classic Pro et VST 20g)
