    I would have given this a 4 star but the one of the rod holes was drilled to small and the nail doesn't screw in.

    I am pleased with this freestanding bookshelf but I’m not too keen on expanding it as there is a lot of rust coloured dust on the struts.The bookshelf is easy to build in under 5 minutes, even though there are no instructions. It’s pretty sturdy and expands and contracts easily. I noticed some rusty coloured powder in the bag before I assembled it and there is quite a lot visible when the bookshelf is expanded. I don’t really have the room to expand it anyway, but I wouldn’t want to rest my books on it if I did expand it.I’m pleased with it as it’s very useful for organising my books and I think it’s reasonably priced at £16.99 (at the time of review) but the dust on expansion is concerning.

    I'm not as impressed as I'd like to be with this extending bookshelf.I can't find an equivalent product to compare this to, but there's just something about the process of building it, and seeing the quality of the legs on the end pieces which are prone to bending, plus the fact when it's all constructed it seems to be slightly warped that just give off a very cheap impression to me.Building it isn't difficult as it's just three poles, six screws and two end pieces, then you pop the rubber ends onto the 'feet'. It doesn't take long. There's also an additional screw just in case. There are no instructions and to be honest you don't need them. Just make sure the poles are all put on the same way, and double check the end pieces as there's one long and one short 'edge' so you need to align them both the same way.There seems to be something wrong with the tolerances as I can't fully retract the poles once it's all screwed together, there's a 1cm bit I can't push back in.Ultimately if you want a cheap, portable, and extendable bookshelf then this is it, but you might not be impressed with the build quality.
