I may have to update this review after a while longer as I am still in the early days of using it.Whatever I end up thinking about it I think it's certainly over-priced - I certainly would not have paid the £700-plus here on Bolo. I opted not to get a hard case for it - using a material sleeve instead and will add info if that does not work out.The main reason I bought it is that when I'm at work I can no longer get paper prints of certain bulletins that I need. OK, I hear you say, just view them on your laptop or phone. Good answer, but I need to add notes to them as I go along and whilst I can begin to do that on my phone (and probably on an iPad if I had one), it's all a bit fiddly on those and the battery life is not as good as this - supposedly two weeks but I've not had enough regular use out of it yet to confirm that.I like the fact that I can compile PDFs on my Mac, upload them onto the remakable for reference and then annotate them. Then I can download them to my Mac and add / compile more pages. Sounds a little faffy maybe but I'm just pleased I can do that. I've not worked out yet if you can combine files on the remarkable itself though - that would be the best / easier thing. Page re-arranging is a thing on the remarkable but not sure about merge.It's a good weight and fairly ergonomic. I like the writing experience and am enjoying working with the various templates which are really helpful. You can use your own PDFs as templates too.The subscription to the server might be an issue in a year's time although I think you can also upload files via usb but I have to say that the upload on-line is very quick and easy. It means you can manage your files on the device itself or on your Mac/PC via the web login - it synchs right away as long as you have internet access.I've also uploaded some pdfs that I'd done for my Kindle when I had it - In this case some cd/lp notes which were too small to read on the kindle but much easier on the remarkable.The only thing I have a slight issue / frustration with at the moment is the zoom which I use when annotating some documents. This function seems to lag sometimes although it might be me not using it properly.I do love the idea that you can write a note and then amend or bin it whenever you like. It's great. Also love the idea that it's keeping handwriting alive to some extent. There's the option to type as well but the "keyboard" is awkward and in all honesty this is a writing-slate, not a laptop!I'll amend this review as I find new things but on the whole I'm happy with it right now - just a tad expensive!UPDATE: Enjoyed using the tablet but ultimately had one issue with it. The problem is that for my work I often need to have more than one sheet of paper in front of me... The ReMarkable works for one of those but if I was needing to reference two at once then I would need a print of one of the sheets. That's the big stumbling block for me - handwritten sheets therefore are still the thing I use. Granted it's useful to have them stored electronically somewhere in an archive for retrieval but I can do that with scans/pdfs. Ultimately then not a replacement for paper and pencil. My latest pad of paper cost me £3.99 and I'll probably never have to buy a pencil again as we have loads kicking around the house. The maths and the practicality make it a return to the "old ways" for me.

Only given it one star because although it is an advance in digital technology and generally does what it claims to do. it is simply not usable in anything other than fairly strong light. Any lower lighting conditions and you are likely to get eye strain. It is not like looking at a tablet screen. The reason for this is that there is no backlight. This has been sacrificed in order to make the device as slim as possible, but the result is a compromise too far. A pity.

The thin and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around, and the long battery life is definitely a plus.However, for the price, I expected more features and better functionality. The limited storage and lack of backlight make it less versatile compared to other devices. Also, some additional software improvements would make it much more useful. Overall, a good product, but it could be so much better with a few upgrades!

This product has exceeded my expectations. I wanted it to use for when I did job estimates to take notes and markup site drawings. But I can also connect to my onedrive and google drive and access my pdf library and read all my favorite books. In addition to that because it can connect directly to wifi, its linked to my mobile device. I can access a document from my phone or tablet after I have been in the field and marked it up. Now its on my laptop and I can load the marked up document into my estimating platform. Very good product. Its just like writing on paper, except you can erase and save and your not wasting paper!! Love it. Battery life is great. I only charge it once a week and I use it everyday. Highly recommend it!!!

Game Changers

The ReMarkable2 is making my life easier daily. I am still learning to use it and leverage the features it contains yet in a few short weeks it is making my work/side hustle/personal life easier. A few simple positives:It is simplistic. It does one thing and it does it well.It is distraction free.Basic usage is intuitive.Intermediate usage is pretty intuitive with a little guidance.I still need to dive into training videos to become a power user.I appreciated the packaging came in recyclable containers.The ability to write, erase, and move text is super simple.Organizing is easy once you understand the Folder/Notebook/Quick Sheets structure.I spent 3 days in a seminar recently. I was able to download the PDF notebook (over 200 pages of documents) into my ReMarkable and then write my notes on the document. I will upload the document back to Dropbox to save/print off later. I had the option of writing my notes on the document or using a Layer (think clear sheet) that I could write on and turn the 2nd layer off if I wanted to see the main document without my notes. That wasn't an issue for me. Later, I did have one page with checklists I needed to use 3 times so I chose to use the Layers for each use and then remove them when I didn't need it anymore.At work, I have a weekly meeting that traditionally has been one sheet of paper per week and then keeping up with each piece of paper as I needed to go back and review. With the Notebook feature, I now have those meeting notes going into one document that I will add to each week. It's easy to find and no lost pieces of paper. I also have a coaching practice and this allows me to keep notes on clients in one running document instead of multiples I must file and track.Two things for the creators to consider - first, it would be easier to read downloaded documents with a lighter/color screen. That said, the existing screen didn't stop me from accomplishing what I wanted to accomplish. Second, a pen loop would be helpful as the magnetic pencil can come unattached. That said, placing the ReMarkable with the binder edge down and pencil on top in my bag helps.I think I have now sold 6 of these to family and friends. At the recent conference there were a few of us who had the ReMarkable2 and we met during a break to share notes and unanimous enthusiasm for this tool.It is fantastic.
