Needed something effective to deal with it quickly and cleanly, and electric traps seemed like the most recommended method for a humane kill. Decided to give this RatKil one a try.Setting it up was easy enough, you just need to add some bait in the designated spot inside (make sure the battery is fully charged before placing it) and place it when you think your visitor is likely to hang out.Rats are very cautious amd clever creatures and tend to avoid new items that just randomly appear in their space initially. They need time to get used to things. So while I haven't had a catch just yet since putting it out, I'm confident it will catch the rat once it overcomes its wariness and starts investigating. The design looks sound for attracting them inside.The principle of these electric traps is that they deliver a quick, lethal shock, which is much preferable to other methods. When it does get a visitor, it should be very fast. Resetting looks straightforward afterwards, you just empty it and re-bait.Based on how it's designed and the principle of operation, I believe this will be very effective for sorting out the issue in the garage once the rodent gets comfortable enough to enter. It feels like a professional piece of kit for handling the problem. Giving it 5 stars based on the quality, ease of setup, and confidence in its performance. I'm pretty certain this will catch our new visitor very soon.I shall edit this review with an update should anything happen.

The trap shell appears to be made from robust plastic.It is straightforward to remove the lid.With the current on/off switch, I think it ought to have a hold function built in to the trap to stop accidental triggers of the switch. A sliding on/off switch is possibly a better option, along with a hold switch.The battery compartment appears to be on the base and is screwed shut.Charging takes 5-6 hours, which is rather a long time for having a trap out of action. It may be possible to swap out rechargeable batteries and a spare could be kept charged up in a separate charger, to minimise maintenance when the one in the unit requires being charged.The trap does not look like much of an eyesore. Apart from the labelling which makes it obvious what it is. It could otherwise probably be mistaken for a large power supply unit, the old ones which get referred to as being a brick.A couple of areas of the instructions need to be updated because they don't appear right. But it is fine to comprehend what they mean.It would be handy for a laminated reference key card to be included to refer what the different light colours and sequences are; and to have a reference table of them on the lid.A little odd to not specify the zapping power in the product information and to compare it to what is required to swiftly terminate a rodent.There is a indicator led on a cable which connects to the trap. I did think this would mimic what the main light was showing but I have not see it light up. It may only light up to indicate a kill. I am currently unsure whether it is faulty or correctly functioning as intended because I have not yet observed the trap achieving what it has been designed to do. I do think this extension light should show all information because it is useful to have. Especially if the trap is positioned somewhere where it's main informative light cannot be viewed.Currently I seem to be rodent free. As such I cannot comment on its success rate and how messy cleaning up may or may not be.

Easy to set up and start using.Rather large unit with easy LED indicators to show you the current status (charging / trap activated / low battery etc).If you need to put it in a bed to reach area or somewhere you don’t want to continually be checking then it comes with a cable and led to see an easy eye on the led status.Have it sat next to a normal trap and at the time of writing still have to yet catch anything. Living next to fields, usually a mouse has found a way in by now !Like the ease of use, sudden death rather than prolonged, rechargeable and long lasting. Will update review once system has activated, but so far easy to use.It does state keep away from pets and children, so you’ll need to make sure it is in a safe place from both (which is where the additional cable indicator comes in handy!)

Highly Effective & Humane – A Powerful Rodent Control SolutionThe RatKil Electric Rat Trap is excellent choice for rodent or mice control indoor. Rodent damage can be disastrous in expensive homes.The main fetures are that it is instant shock to rodents ie no suffering. Safer for indoor use (some safety features prevent accidental activation by pet/children. Solid and reusable therefore environment friendly. The performance is very good for larger rats too, easy to use as well clean.However, it needs batteries, indoor use as not particularly weatherproof, not everytime one can be successful so one has to be patient.Overall The RatKil Electric Trap is a safe, reusable, and powerful rodent control device for indoor use. The main stand out features is that is clean and causes less suffering to the rodents.

First time using this type of trap, so pretty excited to see if it works.Seems sturdy enough for it's price and has an on/off switch which is good, plus it's rechargeable.Not sure of the electrical value the plate outputs, as there is no info on that.I personally like to see my rodents dead, rather than guessing if poison has done its job.
