Gift for 10 year old grandson who seemed pretty pleased with himself at being able to make something that functioned. Kept him occupied away (willingly) from the Playstation. Great value for money and something I would recommend purchasing.

This is a great set for any confident little builder - someone who has experience of following a step by step manual that is clearly illustrated (the manual is VERY dry - its mainly black and white pictures so not very exciting or vibrant - but they are clearly drawn out and the English writing (where applicable, mostly its illustrations is of a good quality and easy to understand) and who enjoys the challenge of making something from scratch by following a process (you wouldn't be able to achieve much if you 'freestyle' it - you would need to follow the designs !) One of my sons would love this activity, the other hate it, so bear in mind the recipient and the task in hand - this is a dedicated build that won't be done in 15 mins from start to finish! I think to say its suitable from age 8 is a bit of a stretch (unless you as the adult are happy to help with the build) as its quite daunting when you open the box as there's sheets of small bits that firstly need to be clipped out of their frames (they are suggesting you get some diagonal cutters for the purpose and not use scissors) and they may need filing down with an emery board to avoid any sharp bits ... and that's all before you start building. So patience and an enthusiasm to build something is key ! I like the fact that you can get more than one design out of the kit - that gives longevity to the 'toy' and makes it even better value for money. An ideal Christmas or birthday gift for the 'right' child ... great learning and creativity potential or a lovely opportunity to spend some 1:1 time making it together.

The media could not be loaded. This solar robot was easy enough to build with clear instructions that come with it, it can make lots of different versions, 15 in total, so hours and days of fun. You can build it in solar or battery modes which is really handy, we went for solar but it struggled a bit outside as its getting colder and there's not much sun now. The battery mode is really handy though as well use this in the winter months. Although if we had left it a while it would have maybe gone for about 10 minutes this time of year, probably be fine in the summer in full sun. You do need your own wire cutters to use this so bare that in mind. My nephew is 5 years old and really enjoyed putting this together and playing with it. I highly recommend it and it would make a great Christmas gift. Thankyou!
