'The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions', Springsteen explained. Throughout the set, that sonic experimentation takes the form of film soundtrack work (for a movie that was never made) on 'Faithless', country combos with pedal steel on 'Somewhere North of Nashville', richly woven border tales on 'Inyo', orchestra-driven, mid-century noir on 'Twilight Hours' and E Street flavoured rock on 'Perfect World'. The Lost Albums are available in a limited-edition nine-LP and seven-CD format, including original packaging for each previously unreleased record, with a 100-page cloth-bound, hardcover book featuring rare archival photos, liner notes on each lost album from essayist Erik Flannigan and a personal introduction on the project from Springsteen himself.

I know it was a lot of money but having listened to all seven albums (with nearly all new songs I'd never heard before) it was so worth it. It is an incredible collection and I love the theme running through each individual album.I can't recommend this highly enough.

If you are a long term Springsteen fan (and you haven't already bought it) then you need to get Tracks 2. End of. Let me explain why.Firstly, it's a fascinating alternate route through the last 40 years of Bruce's career. 7 individual albums that he recorded andafyer which in each case decided "you know what, maybe I'll go in a different direction instead" (as you do!). There are numerous tracks throughout the set which would have defined the careers of other, lesser musicians. This isn't b-sides and outtakes, it's properly formed individually themed and presented albums.Which beings me to the second reason for buying the box set (and not just streaming the music) - the presentation. Each album a stand alone product, all 7 of them. There's also a beautifully produced book that accompanys the albums to provide context and insights into how the set and the songs came to be. Fascinating. It is a thing of beauty.And finally, a word of advice when listening to the music. Take your time and invest into each album individually. Remember, Bruce took 15 years to release his previous 7 albums, so don't rush this box set. Get to know and enjoy the albums individually, and I promise you you'll be humming so many of the tracks before you know it!!

Bit the bullet on this box set. I think Bruce is testing our loyalty on this one To put it in Brucology it's alot of bread man. However cracked it open and started listening one cd at a time. The first LA Garage is a peach of an album and have given it about 8 plays before moving on to disc 2 which I am getting into at the moment. So far its hard to understand why disc 1 wasnt released back in the day. Well I can it is Bruuuuuuuuu. So far well happy with what I have heard so far and will report back in a month or so month when I have heard heard all seven albums.5 STARS BRUCE

I went for the vinyl edition as I felt it was better value than the CD version..in my opinion it's a stunning box set with 2 double albums and 5 single albums all in gatefold sleeves with booklets and posters in 3 of them..the book itself is110 page hard back with lots of information about each album..I think all the albums are really good,I wasn't expecting the songs to be this good so streamed them before purchasing..my favourite album is Streets of Philadelphia,it's a masterpiece and I can't believe it was never released at the time,very happy I purchased the vinyl box set now for £259..if you say each album is on average £30 with the book and box I'd say it's about right price wise but the CD version is way over priced.

For the music I would give this 5/5, it is great to have 7 unreleased Springsteen albums.Unfortunately the CD box set is ridiculously overpriced, costing almost as much as the vinyl. Given how much vinyl sells for, I can see why 9 LPs would cost a lot, but to charge almost as much for 7 CDs feels wrong.To add insult to injury, the CD version feels like an afterthought. The box set is clearly designed for vinyl, with just a large cardboard insert to hold the CDs within the packaging.

A wonderful collection of songs that Bruce has been storing for decades in many instances. I love the way the material has been organised into 7 collections or individual albums. I can’t stop listening to them. It’s really clever the way the Boss has decided to release them as individual albums instead of as extras or outtakes to existing albums released around the same time in some kind of Super Deluxe format at £100 a throw. In that respect to pick up the whole collection of new material for around £200 represents quite the bargain. Very pleased.

Excellent set of 7 (SEVEN) albums from the Boss. Digital version is the best way to buy. CDs and Vinyl versions are both well over £200 (over £30 per album!!!). I'm finding the best way to play these is via an initial playlist of 20 tracks that match the selection released as an extra album. Like the original Tracks album there are some duff numbers but many classics that could have been on albums at the time they were made.
