I decided to get a blood sugar monitor, because I'm at the age now, where I could easily become pre-diabetic and at risk from type 2.This kit is easy to use (although I have wasted a couple of strips as the monitor errored, but that could just be my incompetence!). My nephew is a type 1, so we compared the results from his kit, to this one. The reading was slightly different, but only by .2, so I'm happy with that.I have a sharps bin already, so can easily dispose of the needles, but that might be something for others to consider, as you can't put the needles in to your normal waste bin.Would I recommend? Everybody would benefit from having a blood sugar monitor kit and this one, with all the included strips and needles is a decent one, that and tú give fairly accurate readings. So yes, I'm happy to recommend this product.

This blood sugar monitor kit is really straightforward and convenient to use. It gives quick and accurate readings, and the no coding feature makes testing simple. The kit comes with plenty of strips and lancets, and the storage capacity is great for keeping track of results over time. It feels reliable and well made, ideal for regular checks at home. I would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting an easy and accurate way to monitor their blood sugar levels.

I have recently bought another one of these that was fairly inconsistent. I followed all advice: cleaning the finger thoroughly to make sure no presence of sugars, not squeezing to get blood out to avoid interstitial fluid contamination, not using the first drop, etc. The variation wasn't wild but enough that one reading could be over 1 unit difference, drops less than a minute apart.I saw this was available and thought it a good chance to try another product and see if it was any better, but also to get some kind of calibration across the two to see if one was wildly out. Turns out this does pretty much exactly the same thing. Variation between each sample but not wildly different, and between the two devices about the same variation.I have type 2 diabetes and my readings are never crazy high or low, so I'm not after perfect readings, just an idea. As this seems to be an issue across these types of devices, I'm happy enough with what this provides, but it's far from perfect. I like the bigger screen on this.

The blood sugar monitor came with a neat travel pouch containing a small pot of 50 test strips, 50 blue lancets, a lancing device and the Microtech monitor. Also included are a couple of CR2032 lithium batteries and a useful quick start guide plus a more in-depth Instruction manual. The device appears well built and of good quality.Both the quick start guide, and instruction manual are well written and easy to understand. The instruction manual provides details on setting the time, date and alarm functions as well as how to use the in-built memory. There is also useful information on when to take readings, and how to interpret the results.Within a few minutes of reading the quick start guide I had managed to use the device to successfully test my blood sugar level.The process is straight forward. Slide a test strip into the top of the monitor, and the device automatically turns on and within a second displays an image to indicate it is ready. Then following the directions, I inserted a lancet into the lancing device and adjusted the puncture depth by rotating the lancing device cap (I turned it about halfway). I cocked the lancing device by gently pulling back on the barrel at the bottom until there was an audible click, rested the lancet against the side of my index finger and pushed the release button.There was an almost imperceptible sensation as the lancet went in, and I soon had a tiny drop of blood. By gently touching the end of the test strip with the drop of blood, the blood is drawn onto the test strip by capillary action, and a beep indicates when enough blood has been detected. The screen counts down from 5 seconds and then displays your blood glucose level in mmol/litre.There is a useful memory function that allows the last 500 results to be stored, and it is possible to scroll through all your readings with associated date and time, and to see your 7-day average reading. The memory also allows 14,30,60 and 90-day averages to be calculated but I have not tested this function.This is a compact, portable and easy to use blood glucose meter and an ideal way to monitor your blood sugar.
