I've been looking for an alternative to shaving and epilating that is as effective as epilating by removing hair from the roots. This, sadly, is not the answer.The warning signs were there from the start. Firstly, "Cureluxe" (as this is listed) does not appear to be a manufacturer. It must be an importer of cheap products. This cream has no branding on it other than, confusingly, "East Moon". The wording on the advert and the box is poorly translated, and the tube confirmed that this is "made in China". So, you are buying a generic, non-branded product at a premium price.I started with a test patch on the back of my arm, as shown in the picture. The instructions say to apply an "appropriate" amount of cream, without explaining exactly what is appropriate. Again, an indication of poorly translated instructions, with no care. The test patch was okay. The good thing is that I was left with no red marks/irritation after applying. I was initially encouraged, but, if you look at the third picture, you can see that not all hair was removed from the area I tested on, even though it was thickly applied. The instructions say to leave for 5-10 minutes, I always left for ten minutes. I then removed the cream using a flannel.As you may be able to tell from the third picture, some hairs were removed but it left a few millimetres of hair in parts.It's almost as if the cream weakens the hair, and the removal process breaks it, the idea being that it breaks it short. It does not dissolve the hair down to the roots as the advertising indicates.After a test patch, I then proceeded to remove hair from my chest, stomach and, ahem, nether regions. Again, on the positive side, there was no irritation or burning. So, it is right that this is gentle. Where it failed is in actual hair removal.Don't get me wrong, a lot of hair was removed after ten minutes, but a lot also remained. So much so that even after three applications (3 x 10 minutes of the cream), I was still left with hair. Yes, I used an entire tube of this (priced at £9.95) for a single application and still had to shave afterwards.Within a day, stubble was back. So, no more effective than shaving, and, critically, it took a hell of a lot longer. In total, I had to apply the cream, wait ten minutes, wipe it off and then clean/wash. THREE times! The whole process must have taken about 50 minutes, and I was still left with hair that needed sorting.Definitely gentle, and if you are looking to remove a small patch, this may be effective. But for whole-body removal, this will take far too long, use too much cream and isn't as effective as shaving. Would not use again.
