I am a baking snob. I bake my family a fresh cake every week - one week chocolate, the next vanilla.I have always used vanilla bean paste as it is superior to rubbish essence.However this great product from Africa is a game changer. They grind the pouch and the seed. The result is an amazingly tasty vanilla that smells and looks amazing too. I use a Level teaspoon for a 40oz cake ( my family eats a lot of 🍰)It’s my new go to.I’ll add a photo next time I make it so you can see. If you love baking with vanilla. Try this!

The flavour didn't blow me away, I expected more oomph and a more intense aroma to be honest, so I'm not sure it's great value for money considering the size of the tin. But it is definitely vanilla and not a fake syrupy sweet 'vanilla flavour' type of additive like vanilla extract or vanilla sugar dusting. As such, it's a nice ingredient, and I was happy with its quality, it just needs something else to really make it shine.

Worst vanilla I've ever bought, no aroma and bitter taste, threw straight in the bin. Such a waste of money, the tin is nice, but it's a very low quality product.

There is something rather lovely about opening a tin of proper vanilla powder. This one has the most gorgeous deep chestnut brown colour, rich and warm, with a texture that reminds me of freshly ground coffee. It is ever so slightly oily, not at all dry or dusty, which to me is a good sign it has not been tampered with. No odd additives, just pure, fragrant vanilla in its natural state.With creamy, mellow, and gently rich flavour it is not overpowering, but lingers in the comforting way.Powdered vanilla made from the whole pod has become a bit of a kitchen staple for me. It is far more affordable than whole beans and so much less faff to use, no scraping or steeping needed. Just a quick spoonful, straight into the pan.And since it is dry, it does not mess with the texture of your recipes. No extra liquid sneaking into your creams or butters. I can whisk it straight in, and it melts in beautifully.I like to let it simmer slowly in milk to coax out every bit of its aroma and depth. And, it holds up when cooked because ever at high temperatures, the flavour does not fade.As a little bonus, it comes in a sweet little tin that I now use for storing odds and ends that smell too lovely to throw away.All in all, I am very pleased with this brand’s vanilla powder. It is practical, flavourful, and just a little bit special.Happy to recommend!

I have used Vanilla Powder previously and it's ok. Vanilla is so expensive so this is a reasonable form that is a little more wallet friendly than some of the decent quality alternatives.This one comes in an attractive tin that has an inner plastic lid to keep it fresher. Some products come in a pouch, but the wide mouthed tin of this one gives much better access.It's a brownish powder, not overwhelmingly fragrant but does add a vanilla hit to your cooking. To be honest, I wouldn't always choose it over vanilla pods, paste or extract on performance but I would on price. At least it doesn't have alcohol like some of the pastes or extracts and it doesn't have filler like some of the pastes. It's a good addition to your vanilla toolkit though

Tasted dry on its own, it's floral with a warm vanilla aftertaste. I think it shines best when used with a fat of some sort to bind with it.Mixing a little in with hot chocolate powder and mixing it with the milk before adding hot water worked better than adding it to an already made one. Excellent for buttercreams and cinnamon rolls.The tin is nice and the plastic lid inside is a good fit, while not being so tight that you risk spilling it when opening.
