Huge variety, pricey but have distinct luxury scents, can use in your gifting closet

With this box of Nest 2 oz. candles you get a variety of 12 scents in a wide range of scents and is great for helping you perhaps choose a signature scent for your home or possibly store in your gifting closet to have, ready and on hand, a premium selection of small candles to choose from to add to a gift box or basket. That's my favorite thing to do with this large selection. I've found these candles are generally most appreciated immediately by friends around my age who already recognize the Nest name from their other perfumes and home fragrances but also loved by my older teen/young adult nieces and daughters who always love smelling beautiful scents. For gift recipients who aren't familiar with the Nest name at first they soon realize these are no ordinary gift candle and instead are a more luxuriously scented candle.They are pricey compared to most candles on the market however these, in my opinion, are no mall store candles. They have a story behind them that adds to the allure and the scents really are more curated and candles longer lasting.I did lose part of one candle that arrived partially melted - not sure how only 1 melted and no others. I do live in the south though and our temperatures were sky high when these were shipped to me so I completely understand. At around $240 a box though the individual candles (and they are small - like travel candles) the candles are each around $20. I consider that pricey since now my candles at 11 that were usable in top condition would have cost me almost $22 each. I salvaged and was able to still use the one that was melted for myself but it had made a mess in its box and would not be one that would ever be able to be gifted because of the look of it.Each candle arrives in its own pretty box with an inner black cardboard lining and has the scent name and description on it in English and French and doesn't have anything on it that would indicate that this was 1 of a set of 12 purchased at the same time. The boxes are colored in different shades that seem to coordinate with the scent. For example I'm currently burning the "Wellness" 2 oz. candle which is described as a Driftwood & Chamomile candle and the color is a light blue/green almost like the color of early signs of a light summer storm. The Amalfi Lemon & Mint candle has a bright yellow and deep aqua stripe on the box matching the scent profile. Sicilian Tangerine features a reddish orange and mustard stripe that takes you instantly to a brightly colored, fleshy tangerine being unpeeled and tasted while enjoying a picnic near the Mediterranean Sea. There's the trademark squiggles all over and the distinct stripe too. Very distinctive and instantly recognizable.One thing I've loved for years about Nest fragrances is if you find a scent you especially appreciate you can also get that scent in a hand soap, lotion, many times fragrance, and diffuser set. These make excellent gifts - as long as you know your recipient is not averse to scents. The Nest scents are more complex and global than your ordinary Vanilla, Linen, Pumpkin Spice, and Cotton. Nothing against those but if you've smelled one you've smelled them all. Those cheaper mall and big box store candles also tend to be overused in many homes and have a cloying, headache-inducing smell and you immediately feel someone is trying to mask an unpleasant smell like a cat litter box or something when you walk in a home. They are puddled in a huge wet pool of liquid and I can't wait to walk outside when I see them. These instead are more like what you'd smell when you walk in a luxury hotel, or while relaxing at a spa, or when walking past a beautifully dressed woman at a restaurant. I find that these candles don't "hit you in the face" when you walk in the room, rather they wrap the scent around you as you sit in a room doing whatever and you find yourself some time later thinking "what IS that that smells so good?" It's that kind of candle scent.My favorite scents of this Discovery collection are the Indian Jasmine and then the Moroccan Amber but everyone is different and its fun to find what your own favorite is. My favorite Nest perfumes are the Indigo and then the Black Tulip.I was fortunate enough to receive these Nest candles as a Vine reviewer and am super appreciative since I have been a follower of Nest fragrances for many years now. My review is my honest take though on the smell, packaging, size, gift-ability, and performance of the candles and I tried to offer my honest take on what I feel about this Discovery set of candles. Luxury Candle Sampler

Before ordering this sampler set of NEST votive candles, I wasn't familiar with the brand. I've been opening them several at a time, because it's easy to go "nose-blind" and not appreciate the scents individually otherwise. Now I understand why candle vendors have coffee beans available to sniff to help your nose adjust back to a neutral state when sampling the fragrance of candles.Here are my impressions:Cedar Leaf & Lavender - Also has notes of rosemary & sage. It's refreshing, soothing, and reminiscent of being outdoors in green spaces. Very herbal.Wild Mint & Eucalyptus - Basil & Thai ginger add to the mint and eucalyptus elements. The combination works together so that the eucalyptus doesn't dominate. It suggests a spa-like calm.Driftwood & Chamomile - A very soft, relaxing, beachy scent. Reminds me of a beach-side vacation getaway. Sandalwood and vanilla bean add to the main scent profile.Himalayan Salt & Rosewater - A pale pink candle with a gentle fragrance. Lighting this one would promote a wind-down mood.Sunlit Yuzu & Neroli - Yes, please! Described by NEST as a sunny scented, uplifting candle - I agree. This one is going to be popped in to my candle warming lamp while I work this afternoon.Ocean Mist & Sea Salt - This one adds a slight tropical twist with coconut and white tea. It offers a vacation vibe.Grapefruit - NEST added lily of the valley & coriander blossom to pink pomelo grapefruit. The namesake comes forward as the main element, for sure. A pleasant wake up scent.Sicilian Tangerine - Wow! This is lovely. The addition of mango, bergamot, and passionfruit with the tangerine = chef's kiss of bright fragrance.Moroccan Amber - Not my style; on the heavier side. It is a pleasant scent, but could be quickly overwhelming in a small space. Patchouli, heliotrope, and bergamot add to the amber for an exotic & distinctive blend.Indian Jasmine - This is more my speed when it comes to a floral blend of fragrance. Bright red berries, bergamot, and pink pepper add in to the happy flowery party of scent.Bamboo - A lighter, clean candle with elements of green tones and citrus for balance. This could be good to use while taking a relaxing bath, or otherwise winding down from a busy day.And finally - Amalfi Lemon & Mint - I really like lemon-scented items. This one misses the mark, though. The mint overwhelms the lemon, rendering both scents to a flat state that doesn't do much for my sniffer.After sampling all twelve of the candles, I know which ones I'll be most drawn to going forward. The sampler isn't inexpensive, so if you are going to order, you will have a lot of luxury candles to enjoy. Obviously, the set can be broken up into gifts for friends or loved ones. They come individually boxed. As mentioned above, I like to use candles with a warming lamp as opposed to an open flame. That keeps them going longer and are safer to enjoy the scent. It is a good way to be introduced to the NEST brand of upscale candles.

Beautiful Variety and Quality Ideal for Gifting or Personal Use

These smell so good! I love the variety, and the throw. The scent throws far and lasts all day, my office smells great even after the candle has been out all night. I only burn these for 2-3 hours at a time, long enough for a good pool, and they're lasting what feels like forever.They seem to burn clean, I put them out by putting the lids on and they're not getting smokey anything crazy, which I like to see. A few of them I've sacrificed to my candle warmer and those ones last forever, I just like the candle burning.The price is pretty steep, even for a luxury candle, these are small but still not as small as I thought for a sampler pack, they're a good size, just maybe 25% less and I would call them a good value.

Small, Nice Scents

These are luxury candles. At the current price of $240, they are $20 a candle. The candles themselves are very small. They come in etched glass holders. Each candle has a different scent. The scents are strong, especially for the size of the candle. I thought all of the scents smelled nice. Each candle is individually boxed for easy gifting. You might be surprised at how small the shipping box is for it to hold 12 candles!These could be used in a variety of ways- They could be made into an advent for someone, put in stockings, added to gift baskets as presents or to auction for a charity, broken up as small gifts to friends, etc. They have a pretty good burn time, but again they are small candles so they won't last a super long time. They are pretty colors and again, pleasing scents. With the high price and small size, I feel like they are just an ok value. There is a penny for scale in my photo.I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps!
