These float switches work well for a DIY project and seem reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. I've used them for a water pump cut off in a tank for a solar powered rainwater irrigation system in the garden. Be careful during installation not to stress the hinge lugs, I sheared one off on the first switch I installed by being a bit rough whilst trying to align it. That said you'll want to make sure you do align it carefully to make sure the float runs exactly vertically, the float can stick if its on a slight angle. Be aware that this is a low current switch so cannot handle very much load beyond a small LED, For anything larger you'll need a relay module and to us this switch as a trigger for it. The switch and wires are sealed into the body of the switch making it suitable for slightly humid environments around water containers - which is good given its job. Would be even more useful if they had slightly longer cables to reach a slightly more remote control box. Overall they have decent construction, function well making them good value.

In the picture it is the switch at the back, it was easier to fit another switch instead of trying to source the original what has been stuck in with sikaflex.A robust switch that is value for money, very easy to install, comes with a rubber seal that can be cut down to thickness of the tank.Drill the whole so the rubber seal is a slight squeeze to get insertClean off any rough edgesInsert the rubber seal then pull the switch through, while the switch is in cut round it with a Stanley knife to cut the seal flat to the tankTighten till the switch can’t really move on its own without force and you’re doneDo not over tighten as it won’t seal properly
