In the 20+ years I've been making things on the internet, i've had people tell me again and again that "we dont have the budget or the time to do user research."This book challenges that misconception and gives you practical and focused advice on how to improve what you make by talking to the people you are making it for. It's really as simple as that. Erika Hall gives you the tools to do it, clear-eyed and easy to build into your practice.Whenever I start a new product management job, this book is what I circulate to my teams to make sure we're thinking about who we are building for.

The importance of applied research in product development, or really any business area, is far too often misunderstood or ignored entirely. Erika Hall's Just Enough Research makes a clear, concise case for why EVERY business/organization should be informing their decision making with research. As a product designer with a background in (academic) research, I've been arguing for more consideration for UX research, market research, etc. on teams for years. This book does a wonderful job of making the case for you.Buy it. Read it. Absorb it. Then buy a copy for your coworker, and (especially) for your boss.
