So I ordered this for my soon to be 9 month old but found he is too small for this toy. But it doesn't change the fact that the toy itself is quite lovely.I would say this is a great toy for a 1 year old and up.Each side of the box has a different activity. One side has a clock, one has a xylophone, the other has blocks and shapes to push through and the other has the turning knobs.The top of the cube is quite cool as under the moving wooden shapes on the bar are holes where you put in the carrots and the magnetic worms.The wooden bird is also magnetic and is used to pick the worms. Great way to learn hand/ eye coordination.There are only 2 things I would say.1. The top of the cube just sits on top and doesn't actually clamp on to the cube. So if my little knocks it down the lid falls off. It needs to have someone to keep in place2. Not sure how safe having the small magnets on the worm and bird. Is it sage for little ones? I'm sure it is but I'm just weary.Love the cube though

My granddaughter is just a little too young for this, but by Christmas it's going to be perfect. It's a lovely toy, well made and packed with different activities. There are things to pull and push and twist and hit (glockenspiel on the side - not xylophone, but most people get these the wrong way round). I'm glad there isn't any writing on it because if you look at the pictures in the description, there are hardly any words that are spelled correctly. A nice and bright, well made, packed with activities toy. Very happy to recommend this for your little one.

I ordered this for my daughter and found it to be a wonderful little present that keeps her entertained for ages!Bright colours and a whole host of different activities keeps her brain busy and it all feels very well made. There are a few thin bits of wood but would take some strength to break and any plastic bits are smooth with no sharp edges.The additional pieces are also well made, solid wood and nice and colourful.Give the toy a quick check before allowing your little one to play but everything I can see seems decent and she loves it.

First and foremost this isn't quite as big as I thought it would be. But the great thing about that is that it is compact enough to travel with and keep little ones entertained on the go.There are 4 sides plus the top and a bag full of bits that work with the slots on the side so plenty of different play and puzzle opportunities to keep little ones engaged. The xylophone was a big hit and we loved weaving the beads up and over or round and round on the top.Lovely colours and soft edges. Everything packs in neatly on itself to store away.Great item

It wasn't until I opened this that I realised the actual cube isn't fully wooden - the rims around the top and bottom are plastic which is a shame. (I always realised the lid activity would have solid wire meaning it wasn't 100% wooden.)The top (with the wire maze) is a substantially thick piece of wood, and both the xylophone and clock sides are also fairly thick. But all the other sides are much, much thinner and I'm worried about how easily they'll break -- especially the shape sorter side which has lots of narrow strips between the holes.Activities -Xylophone : the metal bars are held in place with plastic pins that don't pass right through the wood. One of these pins wobbles (all the others are solid), so I'm worried this may snap off before long. The hammer for it feels well finished.Shape sorter : rather than the traditional shapes this uses fruit. A child is likely to recognise the strawberry, orange and pear, less so the pomegranate, and even I had to double check the star fruit! All the fruits have the fruit on one side and a face on the other which makes them slightly more interesting. I tried all the pieces in all the holes, and unfortunately the pomegranate will pass through all except the one for the star fruit.Cogs : all these do is spin, but it is possible to give one a good push which leaves them all taking a few turns before you need to turn them again.Clock : I'm guessing the face is meant to be a giraffe from the ossicones (horns), but it's not very clear. The hands are stiff which is good in that they don't collapse from the time you set them to, but makes it had to move one at a time. They may loosen up over time.Lid : this has the wire maze with 9 beads on the longer red wire and 5 on the shorter blue one. 8 of the 14 beads are coloured beads, 3 are food (apple, tomato and watermelon), and 3 are animals (cow, sheep and chicken). The beads all run smoothly around the wires.The lid also has holes for 4 carrots and 5 worms, with the worms having magnetic tops so they can be picked up by the woodpecker (who has a magnet in his beak). However, I'm concerned about the size of the worms. The box says this toy is suitable from age 3, but due to the activities I can see many people giving it to a younger child as I don't think it will hold the attention of a child much over 3 for very long - and the worms are just the right size to be pushed up noses and into ears, as well as being chewed on. One of the holes for the worms is right in the centre of the lid, and it's very difficult to get the woodpecker to it even with all the beads pushed to the ends of the wires.I only count 7 activities if the carrots and worms are 2 separate activities, and the carrots seem pretty pointless to me.The pieces can all be stored inside the cube, but some (especially the worms and carrots) are liable to fall out through the shape sorter holes. The lid will go in upside down (with the maze inside) to reduce the storage space needed for it.This is currently priced at £19.79 (£21.99 less 10%), but given my concerns over how thin some of the panels are and the size of the worms (plus positiion of the one hole) I think this is over priced. I'd be happier to see it at or under the £15 mark.
