5.0 out of 5 stars Mind Blown! - Yeah bye then CR10s...

    M.S.P.D. · 15 July 2023

First off, this machine is a bargain at £180, I've been on the fence over Resin Printing and I'm very experienced with 3D Filament Printing (Creality CR10s), Resin was too expensive until now so I took the plunge, I'm so glad I did.I will leave a few tips at the end as I stumbled on a few things but these are the results of just over 48 hours later, I've managed to print quite a few figurines already using Anycubic Water Washable Resin (Grey).Once I found out the basics and I got up and running I blown away with the incredible detail you can achieve on small models, I couldn't dream of such quality on a filament printer. See my included photos and bear in mind I am a Resin Printing newbie so quality WILL get better as I'm learning from every batch. The machine is very simple to setup and level the bed, the Quick Start/Setup guide is perfect and makes it so simple that I was left thinking 'Is that it?!', the main learning curve is the included slicing software, it is pretty basic and limited but that is a good thing for novices, in theory all you need to do the following:Import .STL file (Thingiverse has a load of free ones)Fix if prompted (I always fix)Resize, and rotate (if required)Move (drag n drop) then place on tableAdd supports (auto is easiest)Slice and save to file.BUT you do need to play with the machine settings first, default will pretty much guarantee a failed print, I highly recommend you start off with ANYCUBIC resin as they provide these settings with each resin and for each machine, I chose the water washable grey but each resin will have its own settings in the Bolo /Anycubic details.Learn from my mistakes:1/ I setup and went straight into printing the included test and calibration file, on completion you could see which one was the best and it looked awesome, BUT I couldn't get them off the plate, brute force with the metal scraper eventually shattered the brittle prints off into small pieces - LESSON = Don't use the included test files as they are for a different resin.2/Online HELP is difficult to find for you exact problem, just start off with the recommended Resin Settings and print a small item and see, I ditched the calibration for now and I'm printing as in the photos without, I will calibrate when I'm more confident. (A lot of folks won't agree with this though, but at least I got printing quickly).3/ Overall print height = Time, start off with some smaller models that won't take too long, I went with an ambitious 6 hour print only to find I had a nightmare removing the supports due to how I positioned it, a lesson I could have learned on a 30 minute print. Finally, a few tips I've picked up so far or looked up:Height = Time BUT Using the small Stormtrooper Helmet as an example, 1 helmet would take exactly the same time as 12 helmets on the build plate, once you're happy with how your machine is printing then fill the build plate up, plus it's far more rewarding having a plate full of models in the same time as one.A slight rotation of your model will often print better, I'm struggling with the bottom of flat prints due to supports and initial layer issues, tilting models solved this for now until I learn how to improve the base layers.Supports - These horrible things are essential, but the default 'MEDIUM' is often overkill and harder to remove, on smaller models like in the photos I changed to 'LIGHT' which improved my prints no-end, easier to remove and less scarring.Print time to wash time - You don't need to rush and remove the print bed to wash immediately, you can leave it overnight if you want, just as long as you leave the cover on.No need to empty the vat each time, so far I have just kept topping it up and used 800ml with no failed prints, but if you do have a failed print then you will need to clean out the vat.I will leave it there for now, but the main tip is print and learn, you soon pick it up and know what to do next time.Final ThoughtsI just LOVE this machine already and I love the water washable resin too, despite my reluctance to switch to resin I am now a convert, time to flog my CR10!

Great value for money. The prints come out with an exceptional detail and its very easy to use and set up. Only issue could be the vat cleaning process but that's resin 3d printing for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a first venture into 3d printing, what an amazing thing this machine is, fantastic !

    K.C. · 3 February 2021

For my first venture into 3d printing, I asked around for what I needed for fine art, flower displays and small animal sculptures, I was advised a Resin machine. After some scanning of reviews and youtube, I opted for a Anycubic Photon Mono and the Wash and Cure machine as this simplifies the overall process for a beginner. Two larger boxes arrived plus some Resin I also ordered from Anycubic as I thought this had the best chance of working. I though if I took pictures I would remember how to set this up once I had packed it all away, and to give me a chance to follow the instruction book. I watched a video by Joel 3d nerd and he went through the whole setup in minutes, I double checked every step and it was under 30 minutes until the machine was printing, something I wanted was a plug in and go machine. The instruction book was simple to follow, plug in, press a button, peel of some film here and there that protected parts, test the lights, bolt on the head part and 'home' it with some provided paper, do some bolts up and press a button, done, it was that simple. After waiting a few years, I may have overestimate the difficulty, but apparently things are a lot more user friendly today. Credit to the folks at Anycubic for making such a a simple to build machine. Now I set it printing for a few hours using a test file that came on a stick, then the fun started, gloves and mask on, scraper at ready I unlocked the head, with a bit of pressure the part came off, and then I used some cleaning fluid in the Wash machine in the basket, then used my hair dryer on cool to dry the part. Then fitted the disk and used the cure button and the part was done. The final test part is amazing, so smooth and the transparent look is what I want for the plants I want to model and then make into display pieces. Overall a very satisfying day, now there is lots to learn with the provided software to do 'slicing' and then more adventures await. The pics I took show the opening to getting it working, no idea what order they will show in, but there was also a box of tools, scrapers, lots of gloves, a mask, that was useful, and a pic of the display that is so simple to use. Don't hesitate, get printing !

I have this printer for years now. And I had a blast. Very user friendly. Only issue I had was the usb stick that's provided stopped working at some point, but they are super cheap so it was easy to replace. I printed a lot on it, never crashed, never had to relevel bed etc. For its price it's best on the market.

I bought this for my son for Christmas, he was made up with it and has made some brilliant things, one handy tip that might help someone is my son hates to be warm , I'm talking middle of winter with the window wide open and fans on, you could get hyperthermia in his room, he would leave the printer running on a night when he was sleeping, the film ended up being damaged and when he read up on it cold temperatures can cause it, he ordered a new film and made sure the temperature wasn't too cold and he is happily printing again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make sure bed is level

    G.W. · 16 October 2022

Very good prints, one did fail due to the bed being slightly off level. Some resin was stuck to the FEP, using the plastic scraper I scraped too hard and damaged the FEP. Bolo replaced the VAT with FEP free of charge (very good of them as I damaged it). If you do get resin stuck to the FEP, do not scape it off. YouTube has videos of how to remove.
