Ok so did save the lens but does give u sun glare in very sunny places like me in south africa cape town but still seems very good as again it did protect the lens from a stone what came off thr back wheel of my friends motorbike when I was riding behind

Protects the X5 lens as it should. But for £30, id expect it to not have so much lens flare in direct sunlight. It's also worth noting that its not water tight, so you may get water seeping into the lens if its wet.

I bought the premium lens guard after my X5 got a lens-change worthy scratch on its first trip outside, an absolute mystery how it happened & I have contact customer service regarding it.but it's safe to assume no matter what you see on from advertisers, the X5 lenses are still quite fragile and subject to scratches, so guards are essential.I really think with the expense of the camera these should have been included, and naturally after my experience I'm quite annoyed the durability advertising got me and has financially stung me so soon.But, anyway, with the lens guard installed the camera recognises it was the premium lens guard as soon as I turned it on which is nice, although I went out walking the dog today and took some video footage like I had done a day previous, if direct sun is on the lens its very poor - every spec of dust (which the tempered glass seems to attract) is visible and glare is amplified dramatically, very much shows the effect of looking through an additional lens.but out of direct sunlight footage appears just fine.The other thing of note would be how big the lenses are, I'd say they doubled the size of the lens bulge but this hasn't interfered with anything case wise so that's nice.Not very happy, but unfortunately, can't avoid using a lens guard.

For a premium lens, they are not that premium.What is good and what is bad about them?What is good? They are recognised by the camera straight away as being a premium lens which is a good start. Also they obviously protect the lens on the camera itself. And we then stop there as that is about it.What is bad? The lens flare in direct sunlight is truly wowful. Any sunlight on the lens make the film/video very poor indeed with any specs of dust showing up (which happens) and the sunlight flare/glare amplifies grately which spoils the images. Also you cannot use them in water. Ok so I am not probably going to use the camera ever in water, but it would be nice to have the choice to be able to use a protective premium lens. Again though for a premium lens, you would think that you could actually use them for that purpose. Yet you would be wrong.In other words, you need this premier lens to protect the actual camera attached lens, but, unfortunately, these are not really fit for the purpose. See the picture attached taken in direct sunlight on a recent trip to New York.

These are an important component of a 360 camera. The big, bulging protruding and very expensive lenses need protection. Unfortunately, the X5 which costs £519 doesn’t come with any as standard.I bought the “premium” guards because, well, I spent £519, so it makes sense. So loses one star.However, as you can see from this photo, if you do dip the camera underwater, the lens of the guards retains liquid inside the compartment, completely messing up the shot. So you need to take them off if using them in water. Even if they are the “premium” version. So loses another star.So, 3 stars. Maybe best to invest in the X5 replacement lenses instead?

Premium Linsenschutz Insta360 X5
Ein unversichtbarer Schutz für die Insta360 X5.Der Linsenschutz lässt sich sehr einfach anbringen, einfach aufsetzen und entsprechend der orangen Markierung drehen bis die Hülle sitzt.Der Premium Schutz kostet natürlich etwas mehr als der Standard Schutz.Bisher konnte beim Filmen und Fotos machen keine Einschränkung durch den Linsenschutz festgestellt werden.Selbst mit Schutz passt die X5 in die meisten Tragetaschen.Wer noch sicherer gehen will, macht beim transportieren die Insta360 X5 Gummihülle drüber, auch das klappt wunderbar.Zusammengefasst eine sinnvolles must have.Alternativ kann man auch die Linsen wechseln, aber da ist dieser Linsenschutz einfach auf Dauer die bequemer Lösung.
Lens protector is a must
This is to update my review - insta360 customer service resolved my issues and even went above and beyond. The lens protector is a must if you’re using the camera outdoors. I tried other lens protector but they are easily scratched and blurred.
思ってた以上にしっかりしてました。
マウントが外れて40キロ程度の速度でカメラが飛んでいったのですが、このレンズカバーに若干の傷がついたものの、中のレンズは無傷でした。本体はボロボロになりましたが、撮影能力はしっかり守れたようです。
