5.0 out of 5 stars An easy tool to digitise the old cassette recording
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } This is a fantastic device for digitising the old cassette recordings. It is portable and comes with an array of features including a microphone, speaker, rechargeable battery, and earphones. It comes with an 8GB SD card, which provides ample storage for converted tracks. The easy conversion to MP3 format means transferring a cassette contents into a digital format that can be played on various devices. The SD card reader included in the package simplifies the process even further.I specifically used this converter to digitise an old language course recorded on cassette - material that is becoming increasingly hard to find. I was genuinely impressed by how seamlessly the device worked, requiring little to no involvement on my part. The quality of the conversion was magnificent, and it retained the clarity and integrity of the original recordings.Additionally, the 5 year assurance (I take it as a warranty) adds an extra layer of confidence in the product’s durability and performance
4.0 out of 5 stars for the price... thumbs up
An update on the Walkman from the early 80s: not only does it play your tapes, but it will also allow you to convert your music from the tape onto the supplied 8 GB SD card and you can also record your voice to the SD card. The same SD card slot allows you to upload your music to the cassette machine. It comes with headphones, has a rechargeable battery, and all controls are clearly marked and easy to operate. The Led screen keeps you informed of battery status and time elapsed the display though small is clear and easy to read. All in a comprehensive Cassette package.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just like the old days.
I owned a cassette player when I was a kid, and I loved it. I never knew which way the tape had to go in, but it was my first introduction into having portable music. When I saw this, I had to try it. It was black just like my old one, but with added modern bonuses like an lcd screen and sd card compatibility. This cassette player allows you to directly transfer your tapes onto the included sd card which is a great feature and handy for those who need it. personally, I probably wont be using that feature, as I wanted simply to play some old tapes and experience some nostalgia. This player is very well made, and the company has put lots of effort and thought into making this a great product, I even loved the bonus little comic book that came with it which you can have your own photo put onto. As for the player itself, actually playing tapes is a joy. Once again I put the tape in the wrong way to start with just like the old days, but once Id figured it out, it played the tape well, pushing the big play button just like I used to. For a small speaker I was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds, and is great for carrying around with you. There isn't a clip to hang it on your trousers unfortunately like my old one had, but I love it nonetheless. It works well, sounds great and is well made, what's not to like... and, so far, I haven't had to rewind any tapes with a pencil, so that's a bonus. I highly recommend giving this a try, you wont regret it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good for old recordings
Used this to go through a box of old tapes that had been collecting dust. Converting them was straightforward and didn’t need any extra kit or software. Managed to preserve some recordings from decades ago without much hassle, and the files played back clearly. Sound quality isn’t perfect, but better than expected considering the source material. Also gave it a go as a regular player and it’s quite nostalgic, hearing things through that familiar hiss again. Handy that it works on its own without needing to be plugged into anything. Earphones are fine, and the controls are basic but responsive. Handy tool if you’ve got old tapes lying around and want to back them up.
3.0 out of 5 stars Annoyances but it does its main purpose of converting tapes in mp3 files.
I have mixed feelings about this little tape recorder, in some aspects it delivers and in others it falls short unfortunately. These are my opinions:On opening the packaging which is very nice, you are greeted with the nice retro looking little player/recorder which takes you right back to the days of the Walkman (if you are old enough like myself to have lived through this era). It's plastic but the build quality feels good enough and the manufacturers obviously believe in their product offering a staggering 5 year warranty. It's not as sleek as the latter walkman had been which were mostly metal and it's not as slim. This however packs a lot more inside. The actual size isn't much bigger than the tape it takes inside and it was such nostalgia popping in the first tape, actually interacting with physical media. As a cassette player I think it hits the spot, it has an lcd screen which displays the time the tape has been playing. The usual big, press down buttons to play, stop, fast forward and rewind the tape. The sound quality is at the level I remember for tapes. A nice pair of earphones are included for listening. There is also a built in speaker which I think is great and it is the way I am listening while I write this review. The sound quality won't win awards but it is fine for general listening and via the little roll wheel, volume control at the top of the device it can achieve a decent volume. The first thing I found strange was that when rewinding a tape to get to the start, it doesn't click off when it reaches the beginning with the button staying down until you press stop, I've never seen this on a Walkman and I'm not sure if it puts strain on the device/tape if it's left this way for a period of time. Now it's main purchase reason and where I found more annoyances, recording tapes to digital. I have to say, in the basics of this it does a great job and is pretty simple, just press play on the tape, hold record and its recording. When the tape ends or you reach where you wish to end, you hold record again to stop. This is recorded onto the included 8gb memory card as a standard mp3 file. An adapter is also included to transfer the files to computer.I'm thinking I was expecting too much but I thought somehow it might separate it into individual song files by detecting the gaps between songs but it doesn't and this is fine as really the long file is just the same as on a cassette. Where I'm a bit disappointed is how you can interact with these files on the actual device. There is a file icon which I thought would show a list of files to select but it doesn't really seem to do anything, I don't see the purpose of it. There is no way to name the files without editing on a computer, though you can select a file by going forward or back and they are numbered in order. Whenever you move forward or back in these files they always automatically play, same as when you turn the device on, it just starts playing from the mp3 which I find a bit annoying.Probably my biggest disappointment with the interaction of these recordings on the device is that when you are listening to a file (one side of a cassette which is un named on the device so you don't know what it is), there is no way to fast forward through the file. So if you get a song you don't feel like listening to, you cant forward past it. Pressing the forward button just skips to the next file. I see this as a backwards step from playing the cassette where at least you can go forward or back.So as a cassette playing it works just fine with nice inclusion of a speaker. As an ability to record a tape collection into mp3 files to transfer to a computer or listen on an mp3 player etc - great. As an mp3 player to enjoy the recored files, it's very basic.

Wow!
I received a sample KLIM K7 cassette player - cassette to digital converter. As a long time collector of audio going back to wire recorders, I thought I’d give this device a try. I have a large collection of cassettes amongst numerous other analog recorded mediums. I did do some conversions back in the nineties and found it painful. Zoom ahead to today…The KLIM K7 player arrived and I was quite surprised what one got for the $60 package. The recorder/player, USB charging cable, headphones with magnetic connectors with four different size earpieces, lapel holder for earphone cable, 8 gig SD card, SD card reader and a humorous KLIM thank you and decal set.For my first test of cassette to digital recorder I popped in a cassette (from 1982) and had a listen. It has been a long time since I had tape hiss in my ears. The earphones are good, the built in speaker is okay. But the real reason I got the machine was for the analog to digital conversion. Conversion is pretty straight forward, pop in the cassette (tape side up), press play then hit the record button. I had to leave the house and was a little leery about the size of the file I was going to get, 2 hours of blank audio after the music finished? I was totally surprised, the cassette finished and the recorder shut off! Whew…The next step for me is to bring it into Adobe Audition or similar audio programme to cut the single file into individual tracks if desired. I do. Then I use MP3tag (free software) to put in all the pertinent information for each track. The MP3 tracks sound excellent in my first test. The MP3 is recorded at 160kbps, sample rate 44100Hz and 32bit.On my second test, the cassette to digital recording finished then it played the digital recording afterward. The KLIM K7 requires no space, has a 1000mAh rechargeable battery and can basically do a cassette to digital conversion anywhere and no babysitting the player/recorder, a bonus.
Fairly cool little player so far, still have things to try. Stereo? SD card size? We'll see.
So first off, this comes nicely packaged and feels reasonable quality. I got it to convert several hundred old tapes from back in the 70's and 80's when phone rates were too high to long calls with family members, so we got nice little stereo recorders and send pretty high-quality sound back and forth through the mail, which was still cheap to do then. I saved all the tapes and they're rather a priceless archive now, but degrading.I've checked out the mechanism and it seems to work well. I was happy to see that while it was USB-C chargeable, the battery seemingly IS replaceable with a standard lithium cell easily available, so the whole device isn't cooked if the battery goes bad.I can't tell whether it will record MP3 in mono or stereo... I really hoped to retain the stereo signal on most of the tapes. There's a real presence to stereo that you don't get if you mush the tracks together, and without it being advertised as a stereo MP3 converter it probably isn't one. Also I may have to "trial and error" to see if it'll take SD cards larger than 8gb, I suspect it may take up to 32gb but I'll have to try and see.Nice lighted display and advanced features - despite not being able to record to a casette... really, who would do that now anyhow? So far I like this little thing a lot. I'll revisit this review with further comments as indicated.
Great item, does what it says it can do, just wish...
This cassette player works great allowing you to convert tapes to digital files, it even comes with a memory card. It has a rechargeable battery built in and the charging cable. The player seems well made and feels solid. The display is bright and clear. The tapes travel nicely and don't get "eaten up" when playing, like some more cheaply made players. The sound is good for its purpose. The method of transfer is intuitive; but realize it converts in real time, so it could take some time. It would be nice to be able to put AA batteries in this, so if the rechargeable battery drains, you don't have to wait until it recharges to continue using. My two wishes for this device are that I wish it could record tapes and have an input to transfer/record from other devices. Neither of these two "wishes" were listed as a possibility, so I don't blame the product itself.
