Ritorna Selena Gomez con un nuovo progetto discografico insieme alla partecipazione di Benny Blanco. Il disco si intitola "I said i love you first" preceduto dal singolo apripista Call me when you break up ed è caratterizzato da uno stile musicale piuttosto compatto in genere pop dance tipico dell'artista texana. Sono presenti anche genere pop latino e pop elettronico come nella traccia Bluest Flame che ben si appresta ad essere una possibile hit radiofonica. L'album è pervaso da sonorità con atmosfere soffuse che sembra quasi , nell'ascoltare le varie tracce, di avere la percezione di camminare nella nebbia e il tutto accompagnato dalla voce sussurata e dolce della cantante. Nell'ascoltare l'intero disco si percepisce tristezza, malinconia e un velo di solitudine che trasmette l'artista con la sua voce. L'ultima canzone, che conclude il disco, Scared of loving you è una ballata davvero tenerissima che sembra quasi una ninna nanna nella quale la cantante con la sua voce trasmette emozioni di tristezza e nostalgia. Selena Gomez è riuscita a realizzare un album introspettivo e maturo riuscendo con bravura a dare qualità a singoli di base con genere musicale piuttosto commerciale.
