I’ve generally had great experiences with MyProtein products, but unfortunately, the Essential Whey Protein - Parent (1.3kg, Chocolate Smooth Protein Shake Powder) really missed the mark for me.The chocolate flavor is unexpectedly sweet—almost sickly—and has a strong artificial aftertaste that I just couldn’t get past. I even tried adding a pinch of salt to balance it out, and gave it three separate tries with different methods, but nothing helped. In the end, I decided I just won’t be buying this one again.On the other hand, I’ve tried the vanilla version, and it’s actually quite good. Still slightly sweet, but much more balanced and pleasant compared to the chocolate.I still trust MyProtein overall, and they do have some great products, but this particular flavor was a disappointmen

MyProtein has always been a staple for my protein supplements and this is the quality I'm used to. It has a nice taste and good mixability (no grit or chunks after shaking), is easy to digest, and has a decent amount of protein. That said, this 'Essential' range must be new as the amount of protein per 100g is a bit lower than the other ranges (67-69g vs 75-80g), so it's worth factoring that into the price.If you want a tried and trusted brand for a reasonable price that ticks pretty much all boxes, this does the job perfectly.

It mixes well with 250ml of water in a standard ball shaker bottle, resulting in a smooth drink with not many lumps or residue left on the sides of the shaker. The serving size is 25g per serving. The chocolate flavour is pleasant and has a nice taste. It's quite sweet but not overly so, making it palatable for most people. Each serving provides 18g of protein, making it nearly 72% protein content, which is a good amount. It contains 110 calories per shake, making it a great post-workout option. The powder comes in a compact, resealable pouch with a 30g scoop included, and the instructions recommend mixing it with 250ml of water or milk. It is also versatile enough to be added to baked items such as cookies or in porridge for an added protein boost.
