Perfect for Product Videos
The media could not be loaded. I had previously been researching manual rotating platforms. My search on manual versions led me to DigitalFoto but as I always do I kept searching for other solutions not quite convinced to pull the trigger. Then this kit came to my attention, a bit of an upgrade to the manual version in that it has a motor that spins the camera and background at a consistent speed. The main advantage being a consistent rotation speed vs. manually rotating where the speed slows as it spins when capturing your subject. If you do any product videography, sliders and rotating platforms are a couple of key tools to present your subject in a more compelling manner. Motion helps keep things a bit more interesting even for the most mundane objects.The build quality on this piece is top notch. I knew that the DigitalFoto (manual version) was the one to go with but the upgrade on this motorized version has really improved the watchability of the product videos that I shoot. This is a complete kit and unlike the manual version (which is a table top stand essentially) this one connects to your tripod (3/8"). It fit securely to the base on my tripod and was stabile enough (once balanced) to hold the entire assembly steady.Downloading the App and getting it connected was a breeze. This is often a trouble spot for many App controlled devices and I am happy to report that it was a trouble free exercise to download (QR code) and get it connected via bluetooth to my phone. I used a NP-F970 battery which has plenty of juice to keep this spinning for a longer shoot. Just check the distance between the NP-F sled and the bottom of the platform when inserting the larger NP-F9XX batteries, NP-F7XX or smaller will have plenty of clearance. There are also a ton of alternate connection options (NATO, 3/8", 1/4") on this for additional lights, magic arms, etc.If you do any form of product videography and were considering a rotating platform this is one you should be considering. I think for the price of this assembly the quality actually exceeds the cost.
